Playback along with audio stuttering every 1-3 seconds

KiyahKitsune wrote on 12/28/2024, 4:38 PM

I have been trying to tweak and troubleshoot my Magix Samplitude settings for a few days now and I'm getting very frustrated 😰Hoping you experts can help!

Problem

When I playback, I get a minor sound delay before I hear the MIDI track, then ok for a second or two, then every 2-3 seconds the program seems to stutter and sound quality is bad. Here's a short snip of the issue.

I have a new PC and I've never gotten the program to work on this PC yet.

I have also ran latencymon and it detected no issues.

Here are the PC specs.

Processor    AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor              4.20 GHz
Installed RAM    48.0 GB (47.1 GB usable)
Device ID    Removed by Moderator
Product ID    Removed by Moderator
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch    No pen or touch input is available for this display

Edition    Windows 11 Home
Version    23H2
Installed on    ‎9/‎11/‎2024
OS build    22631.4602
Experience    Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1055.0

Here is the end goal:

I want to use my Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headset for audio playback and audio recording, and use my MPK Mini Plus controller to record MIDI tracks.

Here is what I currently have for program settings:

I've tried all the buffering edits that I can think of but I know I'm missing something critical here!

Just a quick update - I tried purchasing the latest software (I was still on the 2016 version!) and that made no difference. I also have verified that the issue persists no matter if I use my headset or speakers for playback.

I've also run a system scan and one bluetooth driver was corrupted and repaired, but that did not make a difference either. I maxed out all the buffers that I could find!

Here are the ASIO4ALL settings

Hi! I also had the same problem, and I fixed it by unchecking "recording" in System Options->Audio Devices. I think the issue is caused by my audio device microphone.

It can be problematic to use a wireless/USB device for recording/playback. I would recommend something that is connected via audio cable.

DAWs like Samplitude record sample accurate. That's why you need a low latency connection.

@KiyahKitsune

I wholeheartedly concur with what @SP. has suggested to you. I think you should try and use a non-wireless connection to your computer. Inevitably, wireless connections do introduce some degree of latency.

Also, you will see I have edited your post to remove certain confidential data about your computer; it is not unknown for unscrupulous persons to use that data to remotely access a computer and hijack it.

EDIT: one other matter has just become apparent to me from the stated specs of your computer; is there any reason why you have not updated your Windows installation since the latter part of 2023? The current latest release is 24H2. It does have certain "quirks" but the general advice is to always try to keep your OS as up to date as possible.

I have tested with my speakers which are connected via audio cable and had the same issue.

Also, thank you for editing the post! I did not know those items could be used like that.

I'm going to try buying an external sound card and see if that does it.

In the meantime I will figure out how to get the latest OS since just normal windows updater didn't mention anything about a new version but I see now what you mean.

Will report back after a few other tries!

Unfortunately that did not work for me :( Same issue. Also the headset I am using is extremely low latency so I was hoping that was not it.

This was not the exact solution for me but took me down the right path! It was me needing to disable the microphone from the ASIO interface not the samplitude options. Thank you SO MUCH!!!
