Pitch Bar Splitting.

jcsatujp wrote on 6/5/2015, 2:08 PM

I have MMM Premium 2015.

In the manual in the section for "Pitch Bar" (Page 37-38) it states

There is also a command for splitting the pitch range at the playback marker position.

I can not locate this.

I want to be able to load a 2 bar sample loop, and then want to split the PITCH BAR ONLY so that bar one plays one in pitch and the 2nd bar plays in another.  Yes, I can do it by spliting the loop and then changing the pitches as requiredm but the statement in the manual makes me suspect that there is a method of doing this without so many steps.

Also:

If I create a sequence of loops, with different pitches. I was under the impression that if I then loaded other loop samples that they would automatically adust to the pitches that are in the pitch bar. This only appears to happen if I use one of the pre-set pitch sequences. Is it possible to do my own and have the subsequent loops adujst the pitch?

Thank you for reading this.

Hi,

I can't figure it out either. I don't see any command for splitting the pitch range. I can get different pitches in the same range, but not with the pop down menu. The only way that I see is to split the object/loop as you indicated. This may be a question for Magix, unless someone else can help.

For your second question, I was looking at this recently.

Take a look at a soundpools folder. There is a file called BPM.inf, which is a simple text file that can be opened with Notepad. Here is what you would typically find:

[Tempo]
BPM=130

[HarmonyTable]
Scale=C

Sample1=C
Sample2=d
Sample3=e
Sample4=F
Sample5=G
Sample6=a
Sample7=B

So, you would need a BPM.inf file for a start.

In normal loop files, there is information embeddded as properties giving the key (pitch) of the loop. Look at the properties of a normal loop in MusicMaker and you will see this. There may be other information that is not shown.

I tried creating a soundpool with a couple of loops but it didn't work. I couldn't figure out how to add in the key information to the properties of the file, but at least I managed to get the right BPM in the properties.

Maybe you could also try since you may already have some loops that you have created. Let me know if you find a way to add in the required properties to a loop. Along with the loops, create a BPM.inf file, put them all in a folder like the soundpools, and try to add them as a style.

I've posted a similar question on the Samplitude site.

Hi

Something strange going on here - I answered this post with a solution on the same day as jcsaujp posted the question.

IIRC correctly the solution was to compose the whole arrangement, with the exception of any vocals and instruments which you do not want to change the pitches of and then use the Pitch bar to change the pitches using the dropdown as shown below:

If you want to change the picth of a section that is not covered by the above pitch boundaries then you do have to make cuts at the boundaries you require and then change the pitch of that section.

@John EB,

Glad to know that I'm not the only one whose answers seem to disapear. Several didn't make it over the last 2 months.

The problem indicated in the OP is actually with a line in the manual vs what we see on the screen. My understanding is that the popdown is missing something, or, the manual is incorrect. We're looking for the command for splitting the pitch range at the playback marker position as indicated in the manual. I think that the intention of the command was to split all tracks at the playback marker and then allow the part to the right, I assume, to have its pitch (all tracks) modified. But the command isn't there. This is probably some legacy thing in the manual that didn't get removed in newer versions, or we don't understand something.

Maybe Magix can clarify this.
