Do this in the Arranger, not the piano roll editor - drag the right side of the MIDI object to the right the number of bars that you want. If you need more than you can see on the screen, zoom out by clicking on the Enlarge time section button, that is the - button at the lower right of the Arranger to the right of Zoom. Then drag the right side of the object out again.
Thanks, but let me give you a bit more detail. Start with new, blank project. I drag Vita Synth to track 1. This loads a default midi track with notes already in place and is 4 bars long. If I drag the object out to 8 bars and double-click it to open the piano roll, it is only 4 bars long, even with the top yellow bar dragged to 8 bars. If I delete the object and open a blank one it is only 1 bar long and cannot be changed. Very frustrating.
The MIDI file imported by the program is an 8 bar loop (accordion for ex.). If you drag it out, all you are doing is repeating it, thus when you view it in the piano roll, it stays at 8 bars.
In a blank area on a track, with or without an instrument, right-click and select Create a new object, Create a new MIDI object, and select a length. You should now be able to extend this object to the right.
