@David-Barselow Have you tried to temporarily disable your antivirus, firewall or Windows Defender? If the MxUpdate.exe is automatically deleted after finished downloading, then the update cannot be installed.

Can you please explain how this could happen where would such a option be located to automatically delete a file not in my firewall that I know of.

For those of you that may be having the same problem installing the update patch (30.0.6.53) when the install comes to the installation and asks you if you want to install the extra software the (Opera Browser) leave the checkbox ☑ ticked, I was un-checking the box not wanting to install the extra software and I would get the problem. The moment I left the check box checked, the install for the update ran smoothly.

Best of Luck

Hi

. . . . installing the update patch (30.0.6.53) when the install comes to the installation and asks you if you want to install the extra software the (Opera Browser) leave the checkbox ☑ ticked, I was un-checking the box not wanting to install the extra software and I would get the problem. . . . .

I have just patched Music Maker to 30.0.5.53 and there was no option to install Opera.

We have had one other user making the same comment about Opera with a different Magix program patch, however this was never concluded satisfactorily.

When I tried a couple of days ago the patch installer errored saying the file size downloaded was not the one that was expected and shutdown, the installer file was not deleted.

Having to disable your Antivirus (AV) to install the patch is a valid solution - some AV's detect some components of the patch as a false positive due to being over aggressive/protective.

How you do this depends on your AV - an Internet search will find the correct method for the AV you have.

Allow me to say this, in today's times and technology, in no way shape or form, should a person or especially a company be asked to let down the firewall to their system or network for an upgrade or update. With opening your network to the internet there is no telling what will piggyback a connection into your system or network. What do you mean satisfactorily. the word seems to be out of contexts. I know for a fact what I have had to do to install the patch and if you are insinuating we might not be telling the truth that is just wrong.

Peace and understanding

@David-Barselow The problem is your Windows users account configuration. I never had any problems with installing software and I never had to disable my Windows Defender to get anything running. Please check your user privileges in your company. As far as I know Magix also offers on premise licenses with license servers that run inside your network. You should ask sales support at infoservice@magix.net for details.

I was able to get it installed, I seen the pay for service once somewhere but can't find it again.

Well I kept it simple and searched the internet with a query and found this unfortunately it didn't show any service for MM https://www.magix.com/us/support/subscription-service/

You need to tell that to the AV manufacturers - there are many (more than 5) that have all caused some form of issues with installing software due to the aggressiveness of their protection features and heuristic algorithms, and it can take months for companies like Magix to get them to 'register' the software as legitimate.

Music Maker does not have a subscription service - the program is free. What you purchase is an Edition with additional fetures, functions, soundpools, instruments and plug-ins to increase the versatlity and capabilities of the program.

@David-Barselow Like I wrote, you need to contact sales support at infoservice@magix.net to get an offer if you want a different kind of distribution. They already do this, for example for institutions like schools or other education facilities.
