Patch 30.0.5.46 for Music Maker Premium

Maurizio-Gaiani wrote on 3/11/2022, 4:43 AM

It is now out the new patch, 30.0.5.46...
I am trying to download it through the button in the main screen of the software but it is taking ages and then suddenly stops and obliges me to start again from the beginning.
Anyone has a direct link to download this patch?
Thanks in advance

Hi

The download patch is indeed slow and is a very large download of 954 MB - the download servers may be throttled back due to high demand.

@Maurizio-Gaiani The update is broken. Magix has removed it from the automatic update process inside Music Maker. It seems you need to reinstall the program to go back to version 4.44. Don't install it.

It is not always a good idea to publish a new software version before weekend. Unless you have a possibility to make new updates or answer questions during the weekend 24/7 because of different time zones. These big updates should be published on Mondays or Tuesdays.

Maurizio-Gaiani wrote on 3/12/2022, 3:17 AM

@TK_ For Magix nothing change... all the problems I had with this software in the past were never solved.
It seems that any update solve something but open new problems again and again.
This new update doesn't freeze anymore but still crash sometimes and I can't make it work with my midi keyboard!!..... still I didn't check everything and there may be some other problems.

Hi

If you would like some help on the issues you are having with Music Maker then it would help us if you post details of your computer specification, external hardware (if used), and the actual issues you are having - specific details helps.

Many of the issue which users encounter, eg ASIO and keyboard issues in particular, have been seen many times before in the forum.

For the computer specification, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full and include any external hardware eg audio devices, keyboards etc .

I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

In addition, were/are there any error dialogs that popped up when a crash, or issue, occurs, if so what was the full message or entries in the crash log file

@johnebaker thanks for the reminder.

I put all my PC and Keyboard details in my signature.

The problem I have now with the last update is simple but important.

The software detect my keyboard but, even after selecting my keyboard as the midi input, when I play my keyboard the software doesn't produce any sound (already tried different instrument and VST) and doesn't record anything at all...
The track was correctly set on Midi REC.
and the midi input in "Program Settings" was correctly set for the midi keyboard..
In the same menu, if I try to select an ASIO driver.... the software freeze and oblige me to force its closure.

That's all...
Thanks for any suggestion about the midi configuration, but I suppose in Music Maker, the only set up is on that page.

Hi

Thank you for putting the computer specs in your signature.

. . . . LENOVO LAPTOP . . . . Audio Board Realtek HD . . . . Yamaha Piaggero NP-V80 . . . .

On my Lenovo laptop the Realtek sound card is not fully configured such that the ASIO driver cannot access it directly, nor could I get to it directly to enable the necessary input/outputs for Music Maker (MMM)

The work around was to install ASIO4All, then in the program settings Audio/MIDI tab set up the settings as shown in the image below in this order:

  1. Change the ASIO driver to ASIO4All
  2. Click the Advanced button (arrowed)
  3. Click the Settings icon (gear) to open the left panel
  4. Turn on all outputs of the Realtek audio and OK out of the dialogs
  5. Restart MMM

Once this is done the Magix Low Latency ASIO driver could be selected works without crashing, I left ASIO4All installed so that I can switch to it for when I wanted to to listen to some other audio, while MMM was open.

@johnebaker I am sure that the problem is with this update, because I had already ASIO4All installed and both ASIO drivers works fine with any other software I have installed (Kontakt libraries, Tracktion Waveform, Cubase etc..)...
now with this last update, ASIO4All (Generic Asio Driver) is not even selectable... if I try to select this driver it will just go back to the "none" selection.
and if I select the Magix driver, it will freeze to death.
I will try to communicate with Magix customer service but the only help I received in the past, it was a link for an old version so that I could at least work again.

I think I will try to reinstall everything and if this will not work, I will go back to an old version.
Every time I see a new update I have hope that there will be a good working version but.... every time is a disappointment

but thanks for trying to help me

all the best

Hi

As @SP. indicated in his post above the .46 patch has been pulled, if you did not revert back to the .44 version, the fix I gave you may not work.

. . . . reinstall everything . . . .

It is recommended to use Revo free uninstaller to uninstall the program and remove all files and registry fragments that are left behind to enable a clean install.

@johnebaker I went back to the .33 version - because the.44 gave me lots of problems and was impossible to work with. (mostly continue freezing).
Now all ASIO drivers works well but still my midi keyboard doesn't work.
It is recognized by the software but, when I select it as midi input, it doesn't work....It is like the keyboard doesn't send any signal to the pc.
The keyboard midi driver works perfectly with many other software (Samplitude - Kontakt libraries .... etc.)
If someone has any tip...
Or I will have to wait another update (not really with high hopes)..
Thanks a mil

@Maurizio-Gaiani If you record a MIDI object in Samplitude and open it in the MIDI editor, which MIDI channel is shown in your event list? An instrument like Revolta needs MIDI on channel 1.

Maurizio-Gaiani wrote on 3/16/2022, 3:28 AM

@SP. ir shows channel 1.
I have this problem with all VSTs not only with Revolta
I already tried to reinstall the ASIO drivers.

Hi

. . . . Midi to USB cable . . . .

Can you clarify this statement please - do you mean the cable has a round MIDI connector on one end and USB on the other, or a normal USB type A/B cable.

. . . .  It is like the software cannot detect any midi signal coming from my keyboard . . . .

I assume the Use MIDI target option in the Audio/Midi tab is set to channel 1 ?

@johnebaker It is a normal USB midi cable, both connections are for USB type connector...
The classic one for the pc side and the one a little more "squared" for the keyboard.

The "Use MIDI Target" option is on 1 but it is grayed... I mean that it is not selectable so I cannot even change that option

@SP. I also tried to reset the Software to original setting as SP suggested but, no changes!

@Maurizio-Gaiani Did you reboot your computer in case the MIDI cable is still blocked by another application?

johnebaker wrote on 3/16/2022, 6:57 AM

@Maurizio-Gaiani

Hi

Thank you for the clarifications, the reason for asking was that . . . USB midi cable . . . . was causing some confusion on the connection type involved, this is not the cable you are using which is a standard USB cable - the particular type you have is an older printer style cable.

As this issue is specific to Music Maker, and not with Samplitude this would suggest the MIDI messages from the keyboard may not be received by or interpreted correctly in the program.

I cannot test this to see if it works - I need a new MIDI to USB converter for my Roland Sequencer, however create an empty MIDI object on the timeline, then open and start recording from within the MIDI Editor - do you see any of the MIDI messages or notes being recorded from the keyboard?

Added: leave the VST instrument set to the default Piano.

@johnebaker No nothing at all even inside the midi editor.
It is like no signals are coming from the keyboard or, as you said, the software cannot understand those signals.

I will try to find a different cable and see if the problem remains.
But still I do not understand why, even with other Magix's softwares, everything works fine and not with Music Maker.

@Maurizio-Gaiani "initial start" sounds like you shut your computer down and will turn it back on tomorrow. This will not reset the drivers. You need to reboot your PC.

Maurizio-Gaiani wrote on 3/16/2022, 9:54 AM

@johnebaker @SP. @TK_ Thanks everyone for your help. I finally discovered where the problem was.
I had a software installed, called Orb Composer, that creates a lot of virtual midi devices and seems that this causes an interference with the yamaha midi driver of my keyboard.
It looks like is a problem specific of Music Maker because I was able to use my keyboard with all the other software I am using, DAW, Notation Software and Sample libraries.
I was reading the manual of the yamaha midi driver and there was a troubleshooting about a high number of midi driver installed... it seems that the yamaha midi driver will not work if you have more than 10 midi drivers installed.
And the virtual drivers created by "Orb Composer" were exactly the problem.
After uninstalling the drivers now everything works fine.

Thanks again everyone
