I have just purchased a copy of Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 2013, and when reading through the PDF contents pages I noted that I needed to connect my PC to my music deck by a PA-005-2 USB device. Is this necessary or can I just use head phone connection on deck to head phone connection on PC.
If I need the PA-005-2 USB, where can I purchase one from and at what cost?

Since you didn't explain, I have to assume the PA-005-2 is a USB phono pre-amp sold with certain versions of ACL, etc. And since "music deck" is not a proper or specific technical term, we have no idea exactly what you're referring to.
The USB phono pre-amp is designed to interface directly to a turntable and your computer. Otherwise, if you have a turntable/receiver type set-up the pre-amp is already in the receiver, so you can use the Tape-OUT jacks to connect directly to the Line-IN jack on your computer (assuming you have one). Some people have a USB turntable that can connect directly to their computer.
The headphone jack is NOT designed for receiving signals, and the circuitry may be damaged if you attempt to do so.
I often forget that many people do not own component stereo systems anymore, but have "all-in-one" music systems. In this case, you may not have any of the proper jacks to make this work. There's a "hack" way to do it, but I'm not going to take the responsibility to recommend it.

Many thanks for your message, as I am a complete novice I apologise for not explaining very well.
I am using a "music deck" which consists of a turn table on the top, radio on one level, tape decks on another with compact disc player on last level.
At the moment I am using the headphone jack on the music deck plugged into the "IN" socket of my PC. This works up to a point but I have to apply quite a lot of volume on music deck to optimise the recording level on Audio cleaning lab.
If there is another way of working I would appreciate some help.

OK...You are currently using the "hack" (headphone jack) method I was referring to. However, it is easily possible to under-drive or over-drive the "input" jack on the computer (whatever that may be, since you didn't specify).
You also haven't told us what connections or jacks are available on the back of your music deck. We need to know this to make a proper recommendation, as I alluded to earlier.
I am using a 3.5mm jack,and have now plugged it into one of the speaker sockets in the back of music deck. There are just 2 speaker sockets in the rear od deck, nothing else.
This way I don't have to have so much volume in order tp optimise recording.
