Just about completed a 17 page website and wanted to see what it looks like but unable to preview or publish it as I constantly get "Out of Memory" message.

Images have been optimised.

Each page will Preview fine.

Unable to export the file and try an ftp - same message.

Hi

Have you tried restarting the computer - Windows button, Power option, Restart?

Thanks John

Yes, tried that. Also deleting pages one at a time to see if there is a point where there is enough memory (remembering to Close) between each loading - read that somewhere. Works with 2 pages so far but only just started that approach.

Hi

'Out of memory' issues can be caused by many things many of which are not related to the program which is giving requesting more memory from Windows, eg memory leaks from other programs, insufficient free memory in the computer - it would also help if we knew which version of Windows you have.

If the web pages contain a lot of images ensure that they are reduced in scale to suit web usage eg still images from a digital camera should be resized and not used as is.

Opening Task Manager, Performance tab, Memory will tell you how memory is being available, allocated and free.

Thanks John.

I'm using Windows 10.

I had a discussion with Magix about the problem too and they asked for the computer specs and asked to have a look at the file I was using. They replied that I should split the file up in 2 or 3 parts and publish them separately and alter the links because they would have to go to different online files.

I can't believe that this software is so incapable of handling what is a relatively small website without having to resort to such steps. The purpose of using such software is to do away with the need for technical competence. I have had to construct my own Nav Bars to deal with the different locations of the pages and cannot use a drop down menu for sub files.

I bought Web Designer because is was recommended by Computer Active as a program of choice and as a replacement for Serif Webplus 8 which is no longer supported. Although Webplus 8 had its own problems it is clear that it was miles ahead of Web Designer in its abilities.

Give Magix their due, they have been great in being helpful and their support has been fast.

In my opinion this software is not fit for purpose and needs a radical overhaul.

Would I recommend it - definitely not.
