This might seem a silly question but I want to ask without any hesitation. What does an online update actually do? I mean when I purchased the MEP with my debit card, wasn't all features included in the product?

Online update is really to make sure that you have the most recent version of the application. Additional titles, transitions and effects would not usually be part of the update. The update would be related to improvements to the application itself, such as increased performance, bug fixes, etc. I usually check for updates every month or so.

I just want to add. If you bought the download version, there might be more features and content for the program.
Under the drop down menu "Help" there should or could be... depending on your version ...a entry for 'Free Download" and "Install Extra Programs".
The "Free Download" will get you all the content and features for the software and the "Install Extra Programs" will allow you to install the bundled programs that were advertised with the program.
As for the Online Updates, I recommend checking once a month to just make sure. There usually are not many updates in that regard, but I like that Magix has included a quick link to allow me to do this all from within the program.
