One animation effect deletes another

So i'm adding an animation effect... For example a 'Question Mark'.  To the beginning of the video.

There are mutiple segments and tracks already.

Then when I drag another 'effect' --- like a Deco-'Film State' to a later piece of the video.  Then I find that the earler 'Question Mark' has dissapeard.

So then I try it in reverse, and even zoom out so can watch this 'deletion' take place.  It's as if I can only have one 'effect' on the video at one time.

If you need a video-capture of what I'm seeing, I can provide.

I'm not sure why it was doing that...

But I was able to finish my editing and get it to stop doing that by 'locking' the tracts then adding the next 'effect'.  Of course it was no longer allowed to 'delete' anything.  But somehow I could still add to 'locked' tracts the new effects.  Then I could 'unlock' and both were now inside my movie without issue.

Hi

When applying certain animation effects to a video or image object they are mutually exclusive eg if you apply an Intro effect to the start of a clip and Outro to the end, the latter will cancel the first effect.

You have to make a cut to split the clip into two portions so that each section retains the right effect.

@johnbaker
It was split... Many different segments.

Hi

I cannot replicate this except when I use a complete clip.

Which program and version are you using eg Photostory, MEP or VPX, and is it patched up to date?

Here is an example using 3 video clips and MEP 2016 Premium

As you can see I used the insert button on the first effect and dragged the second effect onto the video object.

Are you doing anything different to the above?

The resulting video is

Robert,

Make sure that you select a different object on the timeline before trying to insert the effect, otherwise the effect may be replaced. If by dragging you are still dragging onto the same clip but further along, you will have to split the clip (T).

Also, if you want more than one effect on an object, you have to drag it to a second object, ungroup it, and move it to the first object (on an empty track. You may have to resize both objects.
