I have a 32 bit Win xp Sp3 intel pentium 4 , 2 gb mem pc and it keeps getting C++ runtime error when I try to use Movie edit pro 17 plus. I cannot use the MS fix for this because that requires 64 bit.  Is there another solution? Your Requirements never mentioned that I needed 64 bit. What do I do Now?

First, there is no mention anywhere that 64 bit is "needed" because it isn't!  I run MEP MX Premium and VPX (various versions) on a 32 bit system, albeit Win 7, without problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "MS fix for this" so can't comment on that part of your post.

However, I do notice you say you have a Pentium 4 processor; that is pretty "old" and is not fast enough to run MEP.  I currently have a Quad-core Intel Q9650 at 3Gig (i.e., as I understand it, the equivalent of 12 Gig) far "faster" than the previous Pentium 4 3 Gig that I had and which is the equivalent of what you currently have, even if you have Hyperthreading enabled.

Also, the amount of RAM you have installed is the absolute bare minimum for modern desktops.  32 bit can only "see" about 3.25 Gb, though there are ways to somewhat "get around" this, but 4 Gb installed is really the "minimum" for video editing, especially of HD footage.

HTH

Thanks for your input. I have obviously , the bare mininum necessary to make MEP 17 work, But if it would only load on my computer without the C++ runtime error, I could possibly use the essential barebones options of this software. It will not load to a point of usefulness without bringing up the runtime error with it. There was another person on this forum with a problem like mine and the answer was to download a file from MS that solved this. I tried it immediately , but it required  a 64 bit system to be operative. I do not plan on buying a new pc to run this software. That would be ridiculous. I am currently running MEP 12 on this system without a hitch. As well as some corel products with high standards and there is not a problem. The manual for MEP 17 suggests that I Remove the program and reload again with the files they offer online. I will try this and see what the results are.  I will let you know the results. Thank you again.
