Odd lines after playback courser in Sound Forge 9 PC

Marcin-Nowak wrote on 9/1/2020, 6:08 PM

Hello,

I'm writing on behalf of a client/friend who uses a legacy version of Sound Forge 9 on Windows 7.

After a recent Windows update, she noticed the playback courser draws lines over the waveform that was just auditioned.

No settings in Sound Forge changed. Just the Windows update.

I attached a before and after pic to show whats going on. Otherwise plays back fine. Just odd that this started all of a sudden.

Could this be a preference within Sound Forge that can be enabled/disabled?

Thank you,

Marcin

@Marcin-Nowak

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

I very much doubt that is something caused by SF. It could have been caused by a Windows Update but I thought Win 7 was not out of support and hence, no more updates?

Has your friend checked her graphics drivers for any updates, since the problem is clearly a "graphics" one?

They appear similar to 'Selection grid lines'. Try disabling them in the 'Options' menu... 'Set grid divisions' to the minimum is another setting to look at.

I am not sure, I recall seeing similar lines in Pro12 or 13 but it was temporary. I assume the PC has been rebooted and such. Try cleaning the PC and registry, CCleaner is highly regarded, There are freeware and pro versions.

Thank you Emmrecs and rraud! I will check both video card drivers and the selection grid lines setting in options >> set grid divisions. If that doesn't resolve it I'll look into cleaning the registry. Thank you both.

MAGIX COMMUNITY: Please Help!

I'm getting them too!

Whether in sound forge or vegas playback, I get these annoying trailing lines. They don't seem to affect anything as far as quality of the project, but I can't seem to stop them from trailing. Please advise. I never got them on my old slow PC. I got a new faster PC and I'm experiencing this issue.

@Jimmy-James

As advised in my reply to your PM, the advice is still the same: this is a graphics issue almost certainly created by a problem with your graphics drivers.
