Not sure on the Licences, need more clarity

Ward-Ron wrote on 8/24/2021, 7:55 AM

I was recently informed that in the world of music, If I am to distribute mixes of sounds of other people's works (Basically what these Soundpools are), that I need to have permission from the original artists. I know that the Royalty Free License exists, but I have no idea if that would cover such a thing, as I'm not sure if that licence is only for being able to monetize, or if it comes with the guarantee that I could distribute my mixes to third parties, such as Game Developers, with this license

I'm sorry if this sounds confusing, I just want to make 100% sure that the Royalty Free Licence would allow me to do this, without legal issues and the likes, or if there's something else I'd have to do first

No, the license is only allowing monetization for your own projects. The third parties need a license for themselves, too. This means you can sell them your music but they need to buy a commercial license from Magix for every Soundpool used in this music if they want to use it commercially.

Aside from that being extremely complex, thanks for the Answer

New question relating to this, what if I were to upload the track to something like Spotify (given I have correct licence) ?

Also, if I give/sell the track to someone who at the time isn't claiming money from it's usage, but then later they start doing that, will I be in trouble, even if I hold the correct licences ?

If you have the commercial license, you can upload your songs to Spotify.

Please check the EULA on Producerplanet.com

Basically you are not allowed to sell your songs to third parties as I understand it. You can only release the songs by yourself.
