@Nick-Adkins

Welcome to the Magix forums.

To be able to fully answer your question we do really need a little information about your technology, sorry. This post will give you some idea of the sort of details required.

Which version of RYVT do you have? Assuming you have Win 10, is it 32 bit or 64 bit? Did you install the appropriate (32 bit or 64 bit) driver for your USB dongle? If the dongle is plugged in, does Windows react to it in any way?

Hi Jeff, Sorry for not replying earlier but I purchased the program in September last year but I’ve only just got round to using it. I think it’s Win 10 64 bit but I haven’t installed any dongle driver as there was nothing in the instructions to do so. When it’s plugged in, it’s recognised, in as much as it beeps but I cannot see an icon recognising it.

Cheers.

@Nick-Adkins

I haven’t installed any dongle driver

Then it will not work, end of story!

The package you received should have included either a CD or DVD with the program (which would include the driver you need) OR full instructions of where to download the same. Which was it?

There was a cd/dvd that came with it but the laptop doesn’t have a cd player. I registered the downloads, etc but don’t recall seeing a dongle drive instruction. As I said, I’m not tech savvy but I am capable of following instructions and a dongle drive installation instruction was not included nor was included in the downloads.

Not sure where I go from here.

Hi

. . . . the laptop doesn’t have a cd player . . . .

Have you considered buying an external USB DVD Writer, they are not expensive, like this?

If you do, get a known brand eg Hitachi, LG, Pioneer, Samsung.

I’m lead to believe that W10 automatically downloads a dongle driver when needed? If not, should this not be explained in the sales literature or software downloads?

It does, if the unit is designed to be "plug and play", i.e. is fairly "generic" and a generic driver can be used.

In your case, the dongle is specific to this RYVT software and so uses a highly specific, (= unique) driver, only available direct from the manufacturer.

As to the question of whether this fact should be explained in the ... literature I think you will find that it is "implied" in the fact that you need to install the RYVT software, 32 bit or 64 bit according to what your system requires, either from the supplied DVD or by download from here. Clearly you will need the serial number supplied with your purchase to be able to access that page.

Software and driver installation in cases like this is always best done before the dongle is connected to the computer.

Hi

Are there any markings on the dongle and what colour is it?
