No way to change individual sample BPM?

Richard-Moffett wrote on 7/2/2020, 2:26 PM

Hey all. So after having a number of Music Maker software way back when I purchased MM2020 to have a play around for old times sake.

For the life of me I cannot change the BPM of individual samples used in an arrangement. After searching online I have vaguely discovered that this is not possible but surely that cant be true? Being able to change the BPM of single samples is a fundamental requirement. Is it really only possible to drop a sample into an arrangement and have that sample just changed to the tracks BPM? No way of altering each sample to my own BPM requirements?

Please can someone clarify as I feel like I am going a little stir crazy trying to understand why they would remove this simple feature.

Cheers

I have mixed loops with different BPMs on songs before... you just drag them onto the workspace. It may be my inexperience or ignorance, but I've found loops with widely different BPMs sometimes sound distorted due to timestretching or some such. More recent versions of MM seem to do a better job of compensating.

So you really can't anymore? Wow, why would they remove something so fundamentally needed?

What about vocals? I don't want to just drag and drop a vocal into a track and have it "auto sync" to the tracks BPM. Aside from that being unreliable sometimes I want to be able to slow the vocals down or speed them up to my choosing. Is this just not possible?

Hi

The feature you are looking for is Tempo and pitch, and is only available in the Plus and Premium versions of Music Maker - if you have the Free version it would be more economical in the long rung to buy the Plus or Premium version instead of buying extras features individually.

For further information on using the tempo/Pitch feature consult the PDF manual under Help.

@johnebaker, thanks so you are saying you CAN adjust BPM of individual samples? Trouble now is that I do have the PLUS edition, registered and updated. When I right click a sample and choose tempo and pitch there is no option to adjust tempo of the sample and the pitch up and down options are greyed out.

Hi

. . . . When I right click a sample and choose tempo and pitch there is no option to adjust tempo of the sample and the pitch up and down options are greyed out. . . . .

Assuming you installed all the extra content - the one you need is the Plus FX pack - at least this is what it is called for MMM 2020 and 2021, for earlier versions it may be called something else.

The product comparison chart here does not mention this pack by name and to add to the confusion there is no Essential FX pack - as mentioned in the comparison chart - in the Store.

Hi,

Further to what John EB mentioned, do you not get Tempo pitch to show up under the Inspector tab like below?

Try the shortcut Shift+P. Anything?
