I have been transferring movies from a mini-DV camcorder to my desktop Windows 10 computer internal hard-drive using a FireWire connection and Movie Studio Platinum 2022 and everything has been working great.
Now, I want to transfer VHS tape movies to my Windows 10 computer internal hard-drive using the Elgato Video Capture Device (USB) S-Video version 1.15.2 (119) and the same Movie Studio Platinum 2022 so that all of the movies will be in the same place and I won't have to import anything before editing using the Movie Studio Platinum 2022 software.
When I try to start the transfer, I can hear the audio but there isn't any video in the preview window. The video preview box is checked.
The settings in the Video Recording Window are as follows:
Video Device: Elgato Video Capture (USB - DShow) So, it is recognizing the USB input from the Elgato Cable
Input: - Comp + NTSC
Audio Device: Elgato Video Capture (WDM) or should I choose Elgato Video Capture*
Quality: MXV: S-VHS quality
MXV Export:
Video: 480 X 240; 29.97 Frames/s
Audio: 48000 Hz, Stereo; PCM
Preview: Both Audio and Video Checked
I am using a USB 3.0 extension cable from the Elgato and it is plugged into a USB 2.0 port in the back of my desktop.
I am a novice when it comes to this project and am concerned I haven't made the correct settings choices. Would it be easier to transfer the movie to the hard-drive using the Elgato software only (which I have done successfully with one VHS tape) and then import the file into the Movie Studio Platinum 2022 program for editing?
Thank you for any help.
