no versions of this have ever worked on my laptop and barely on desktp

Ok, going to try this again. This is my 3rd and final attempt to post here after registering.....

I'm trying to get a working version of SL Pro which, to date, I have never found. I've been trying to use from ver 3 on with my laptop over the last couple of years. It installs, but upon opening, the minute I try opening an audio file of any type, SL immediately crashes. I am on a Dell Inspiron 1545 running Win 7. My video card is not optimal (not what the program recommends), but that has never been an issue with things even like Photoshop, so not sure if it applies here.

The one time I have had a prior version working was on one of my desktops. Even then, after using the program for a while, actions would slow to the point where SL would either freeze or crash, rendering its function pretty much useless.

I have some audio I'd really like to take a stab at rescuing, so figured I'd try and give the latest version a try... that is, if we can get past the immediate crashing. Suggestions would be welcome. Thank you.

not a help but so you don't feel alone - SL is buggy for sure for me as well. But I can get it working on a desktop, although it freezes quite a bit. If you can spin for it and restoration is your major need then Izotope's RX is great for that - not the same as SL, but excellent for restoration work. Also https://klevgrand.se/products/brusfri/ is amazing for the price on a lot of material and you can try before you buy

Appreciate the comments. I have tried following this software for several years now from when it started as Sony to now Magix. I just downloaded the latest version and it crashed immediately when I tried to open any audio file on the laptop I mentioned above.

I'm tempted to fire up the desktop, which I hardly ever use these days, and try the latest version on that since it does have a compatible card. Are you using the latest version and is it still freezing & crashing? This was the main issue I had when using I believe the prior version on the desktop.

I've been reading about Brushfri, but it looks like it needs an audio sample to be able to work, bummer. The best NR I had was actually a couple of years ago when I came across some Waves NR plug ins that worked "live" on material. I can't recall the specific ones now, but they did surprisingly well with no noise print needed. Since my desktop crashed some months ago, I lost plug ins like those and the demo time would have long since expired.

I just wish I could take another look at SL if the bugs could be worked out of the current version.

yep I am using the latest version under win10 and it crashes and freezes. Still usable tho and has a great unique set of features. What is you looking to do? might be something else I can think of

Hi jon5 and gregh, can you send me (contact at divideframe.com) the logs file located in Documents/SpectraLayers Pro logs so I can check why it crashes on your computer ?
Thanks !

shall do - although my biggest issue is freezing (or playing but no sound coming out) and having to shut the program down - which does not seem to appear in the logs. I will keep an eye out in the future though and try and capture something - thanks for asking ;)

I really think spectralayers is just a tiny bit away from being huge in sound design - the concept is amazing and the execution mostly there

Thanks ! By the way, you can get more detailed log by calling SpectraLayers.exe -debug
