@michael-mayton

Hi and welcome to the forum.

We need more information -

  1. Computer specification including sound card make/model - see this topic for details of what is required and my signature as an example.

  2. Windows version including build number

  3. Program full name and version number

  4. A MediaInfo analysis of a MTS and M2TS - post the results (copy and paste) from the Text  view

Hi

There is an issue with the AC3 Dolby Digital Codec which is no longer supported in MEP 2016 and earlier versions.

For existing recordings you need to convert the audio to AAC with a video converter such as Handbrake.

If you use Handbrake set the Video and Audio settings as shown below

For future recordings set the cameras to MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 to avoid conversions.

. . . . HP with Intel core I5 3.30 . . . .

Do you mean i5-3340 ?

If not what is the full processor name it should be in the format i5-nnnn aa where nnnn = 3 or 4 numbers and aa may be 1 or 2 letters if present.

Hi

. . . . Intel core I5 3.30 GHz. . . . .

The above is not the full name of the processor you have - it tells me it is an i5 that runs at 3.30 GHz - it does not tell us the generation or model number.

There are 10 different generations of i5 processor, each generation having many different versions.

To repeat the relevant section of my post above:

. . . . the full processor name it should be in the format i5-nnnn aa where nnnn = 3 or 4 numbers and aa may be 1 or 2 letters if present. . . .

Hi

Thanks for the processor number, is this is a HP Compaq 8200 Elite with 4GB of RAM?

I am puzzled about the loss of the AC3 import capability, the only reason for this would be if the program has been re-installed recently?

Not sure, but it is an HP Compaq and it came with 8GB of ram. Small form factor case. I installed the program nt long ago-before the major update, because my old computer got hit by lightning. The modem exploded(literally)and a window broke and two light fixtures. No way to save the computer. Will MEP2021 have the same issure, or is it supported(the AC3 imports)?

michael-mayton wrote on 2/19/2021, 10:54 PM

Update..I fixed it. Downloaded a codec pack from https://www.windows10codecpack.com/ and that fixed it. I can now transfer from my camera to the program with the sound intact. It works if you check download now or cancel when the program tells you you need an expansion pack to use the audio. Thanks for the idea.

Hi

Did you install the whole codec pack or just the LAV audio component?

MEP 2021 imports AC3 sound with no issue.

Hi, I've had several issues since I upgraded to Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus 2020 & 2021. 2021 worked fine then all of a sudden I couldn't make any action w/o freezing the program. It couldn't be my system wasn't good enough because it ran well for a couple months.

Luckily I still had an email from years ago for one of the earlier Magix download and installed that and it worked wonderfully. The only problem is, MTS files no longer plays sound. I remember this being suddenly an issue years ago, except back then I was prompted by the program to purchase a $.99 codec which it automatically installed.

I've looked and tried everything, even tried to contact Magix (almost impossible to find out how....) but got no answer.

I'm hoping this might be the solution, but the linked page is covered w/ advertising that may or may not link to a page of viruses. I'm not that computer savvy so I'm hoping someone here could point me to which link is the CORRECT download for this file and how to install/activate it.

Thank You

@CubeAce There's a download button at the top which is very likely an advertising, there's a download to the left of the page w/ screen caps beneath it, a download button in the middle of the page in between the text and there's a download button at the bottom of the page. Am I the only one seeing these?

As I said, I'm not computer savvy, I know enough to get by, but this reeks of click bait and I want to make sure what I'm doing w/ what before I install something that might compromise my PC.

Hi

. . . . for one of the earlier Magix download and installed that and it worked wonderfully. The only problem is, MTS files no longer plays sound . . .

That would suggest the video fiiles are Dolby Surround Sound - AC3 encoded, earlier versions of MEP had the ability to download an extension package, ie the Dolby decoder and encoder, this is no longer available for older versions of MEP

As a result of a Dolby vs Adobe lawsuit and licence fees/accounting, this has resultied in most video editor software makers pulling the required codecs for surround sound.

Can you put your computer specifications in your Profile, Signature so we do not have to go hunting back through previous postes for it.

@johnebaker I'm sorry for my ignorance, again, not computer savvy so things you might think are 'common sense' are not so w/ people who aren't savvy.

How do I do this? I think you once pointed me to a software that puts it out or is there a way to post the info w/o having to install programs that I may or may not know what I'm doing with?

As I get older, it's harder for me to grasp technical things and identity theft and ransom ware would be the worst nightmare for those who aren't computer savvy and just want to edit video

Thanks

@CubeAce Thank you, is the download button at the bottom also a 'good' link?

Hopefully this works, I'm out of town to video a show right now, but I need my laptop to edit the files I can edit, so I'll try this install when I get home and have access to my PC in case something goes awry installing it on my laptop. My PC is where I installed the codec from Magix years ago, so that runs the mts files, it's on my laptop which I travel with that no longer plays it.

Thanks again.

Hi Anthony

Unless you have changed your computer this year you did post your specs here just over a year ago, they need putting in your Profile, Signature where they will be available immediately to us when you create a post.

Thanks
