No input to or output from USB mic in MM2012

johnospurgeon wrote on 1/24/2015, 11:44 AM

I am running Vista Business on a HP Ultraslim W/S, and can get no input from my Microsoft Livechat 1.4 USB headset into an Audio track in MM2013, nor any output to the headphones while recording. I created a short track by plugging an electric guitar into the Mic port on th w/s, but could not hear it on playback.

The headset is configured as the default recording and playback device and I have selected the Magix ASIO driver. any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi

The USB headphone / mic should appear in MMM settings as seperate devices.

The USB headset should appear as one of the playback devices on the Audio / Midi tab of the programs settings.

The USB microphone should be one of the options in Audio record settings dialog which appears when you select the Audio record button next to the record button.

Yup! That fixed it, John. Many thanks. MM2013 is obviously a very comprehensive application, and totally mind-boggling for a complete ingenue. I found that the .pdf manual is a great list of features, but I really need a Dummies guide to getting what I want out of it. Is there such a thing?

Regards,

John

Thank you (Arogatou gozaimasu?)), Nihon94. I did do the tutorials, and they convinced me that I know almost nothing about amking digital music. My question of johnebaker was imprecise. What I really needed was a real starter's guide to the process. I happened upon www.therecordingrevolution.com, which seems helpful from what I have read so far. I would be grateful for any other hints. John

So you do know Japanese good. I remember when I started Magix Music Maker I also thought of something like a Guide but when I found out there isn't any except few tutorial or help from fellow users I made some tutorials to help others.

To me the most difficult part was how to begin and finish music using music blocks off course which I learned later.

If you contact me  by message and explain what you are up to may be I can think of some thing.
