No feedback from microphone

Hello, I just installed the trial of Magix music maker live 2016 and can not seem to get any feedback from my mic. I have a surface pro 3 so there is a mic built in. I also have a usb mic I tried, but regardless i get no feedback with either. Is there a driver or somthing I need to install?
