i have heard about this kind of problem and I can say mostly it is windows related and not Magix products.

Any way first you got to check the device manager to see if the CDR/DVDR etc is missing or device is there but showing any kind of mark which means there is an issue with the driver and you can resolve that by uninstalling and installing CDR/DVDR.

Please confirm the above and if you wish reply back here.

Please do as follows: Go to "Control Panel" of your computer. Locate "Device Manager" click on it. Now you will got all devices in your computer. Refer screen shot. My system is in Japanese sorry. But you can read English.

Look for anything like CD/DVD Rom drive. You will notice there is a Plus sign on the left most probably. Click the plus sign. Here if you see any kind of Yellow or Red mark (a warning mark) means there is a problem if not that is good.

If you click Plus sign of any other item you will see no warning sign because there isn't anything wrong.

By the way what is your computer Operating System XP, Vista, Windows 7 or 8. 8.1?
