Newbie: How do I get Acid Sound Pro to sound from my computer speakers

Alberto-Cruz wrote on 2/11/2021, 6:02 PM

I bought Acido Pro 10 and can't get the sound from the “Brass Invader” demo session to reach my laptop speakers. The channels of the audio console mark signal, but the master does not mark volume.

My three sound devices are: Microsoft Sound Mapper, Direct Sound Mapper and Windows Classic Driver

I downloaded ASIO4All but also can't get the session to sound.

When I select Event Properties if I have sound from my computer speakers.

Thank you very much for your support.

P.S. I have already tried it on two different laptops and have the same result.

alberto, there are few things to check. One, is your PC's default output speakers setup correctly? Two, do you have a sound interface other than built in your PC like you mentioned? Like Focusrite, etc?

My speakers are perfectly connected (I use sound forge and Vegas daily without problem). In fact, everything on my computer is heard except Acid Pro 10. Of course, I have tried it with only Acid Pro open.

Didn't know Acid Pro 10 needed an audio interface! The last time I used it was 10 years ago ... and it sounded fine.

Does Acid Pro 10 need an audio interface to play sounds?

I only have available (as a USB device that can play audio) a Pioneer turntable and a Behringer usb console. I have never used a Focusrite device.

But, excuse the insistence, does Acid Pro 10 need external equipment to be heard?

Thank you very much for your support.

Alberto, no, you dont have to have one. This is because I don't know your exact specs on your setup. But if you are not getting any sound while using the default 'Windows Media Mapper" than its hard to say why you are not getting any sound at this point. It seems like Acid Pro is having an audio conflict within your PC. The only other thing I would do is try installing Acid in another computer (if you have one) and see if the problem persists). Unless someone else here might have another solution

I have been having sound-output-related issues on my Windows machines for a few years now, typically triggered by a mandatory update, so there's a chance it might not be the software, this time.

A couple of trouble-shooting questions:
Is it just that one plug-in that isn't producing sound, or are there others?
Have you tried outputting to external speakers, headphones, et cetera?

Acid Pro 10. Preferences, audio device, Microsoft sound mapper. These are my settings. In advanced tab, also set to sound mapper.

The only thing that does not sound is the "master" of Acid Pro 10 (in fact, the vumeters of the console on the screen do mark a signal, but not the master).

Sound Forge and Vegas work without any problem. My programs like windows media player, mediamonkey ... everything is heard except the Acid Pro 10 master.

I have already changed the Audio Device option to Microsoft Sound Mapper. And I can't get the session to sound.

Is there a setting that makes the Master not illuminate the vumeters?

Hello

@Alberto-Cruz

I read an issue in Magix forum based on Acid Pro 8 no sound at Master.

This may help you.

Thanks @PATIENT-X for you help.

I downloaded Asio4all to give it a try, but also didn't get a positive result to get the audio to the master. On neither computer! Both with win10, Intel i7, 16 gb of ram ...

I've already sent 3 tickets to Magix support, but apparently they don't take them much into account. This is already very frustrating.

I'm going to uninstall everything and try again from scratch. (it doesn't make any logical sense, but ... I have to admit it works sometimes)

PATIENT-X wrote on 2/15/2021, 12:54 PM

The gentleman in the Acid Pro 8 forum said he perservered and it finally worked, he tried the Microsoft Sound Mapper, Direct Sound Mapper and Windows Classic Driver and it worked eventually, it's got to be a glitch or bug?

Translation results

I have reinstalled and uninstalled on 2 different laptops. I have already tried ASIO4All as an Audio device, but nothing.

Channel audio does not reach the master. It does not light up.

Maybe it's a bug in that part, because when clicking on Clip properties, the "Preview" sounds without problem.

If this were analog gear it would clearly be a cable patch issue. But I can't find how to bring the audio from the other channels to the master (like the example you showed me @PATIENT-X)

PATIENT-X wrote on 2/15/2021, 2:29 PM

@Alberto-Cruz

Looking at other forums on Logic Pro and Abbleton for example. When folk had the same issue with no volume at master, it was a plugin or filter issue that killed the audio? It seems to be a common issue on music creation audio software.

I am gonna recreate this problem in my system and see what else can shut off the sound from going to Master. Will get back to you.

In the meantime, start a new empty project and just load up one loop of any audio and see if that goes through the master. Because I only see you trying this with "brass invader" demo project.

Former user wrote on 2/15/2021, 4:34 PM

Hi installed Acid (had it uninstalled since last week due to crashes) and guess what, it crashed as soon as I hit play. hahahaha. Sorry man, lets wait and see if Magix will send out an update soon.

Thank you very much for your patience and time @Former user

Very unfortunate the situation of this software.

I appreciate your help in finding ... that Acid Pro 10 doesn't work.

Alberto, Acid Pro finally worked for me after hours of hair pulling and frustration. I had to get rid of Melodyne completely. Now, I will try to see if I can find a solution for you.

Alberto-Cruz wrote on 2/16/2021, 11:20 AM

Thanks a lot @Former user I also start to believe that Melodyne cold be the issue.

I unistalled completely the software and when I installed again in my two laptops...doesn't appear any kind of screen registration to Melodyne.

And usually when you reinstall the Suite of Magix always ask for the codes of all the addons that cames with the sofwtare.

Do you know the folders to remove the dll's of Melodyne?

Really thanks.

I bought Acido Pro 10 and can't get the sound from the “Brass Invader” demo session to reach my laptop speakers

@Alberto-Cruz I too have the same problem. I turned the metronome on and could hear that but not the instruments, so i thought maybe Acid Pro couldn't find the loop files to play the sounds.

I created a new project, opened explorer and located the loop collections and then synced some drum loops and other sounds and it came out the laptop speakers, it was working perfect. Thinking it must have been the "brass invader" demo at fault. i saved the project, shut down the computer. When i came back later, opened the saved project, I had the same problem as before, levels moving but no sound.

I think what's at fault is Acid Pro doesn't know where to find the sample/loop files. On my copy the location box is empty. I tried to enter it manually in the preference tab, but it wont let me and there's no drop-down browser button to click on. It's just permanently blank.

Are you able to assign a folder for the loop collections?

Alberto-Cruz wrote on 3/1/2021, 9:10 PM

Hi @n1c

I decided to drop the Acid topic out of frustration with buying something that I thought would work wonders. I opened it last week to see if doing what you mention ... would be a solution.

And the program stayed in an eternal loop of Magix! Today I managed to open it after uninstalling and installing everything ... and I have managed - FINALLY - to make the loops sound.

Magix support was nil, even though my emails were answered, it all came down to a plugin causing a conflict. I explained to them that you just rebooted the whole computer for your program to work! Anyway....

Here are my conclusions, I hope they help you:

The demo that Acid brings has some very serious error with the windows version of my two machines, in both I have Windows 10 Pro 1909 build 183663.1379. IMPORTANT: In my case I am waiting for the download of Windows version 20H2.

I had (so I uninstalled it on one of my laptops) Sound Forge Pro 11 and Vegas Pro 15 installed.

I uninstalled everything, then went into the resgistry editor to delete anything that made reference to Magix or Sony (as I had some old versions of Sound Forge and Vegas). I did not have the desired result.

That's when I decided to try restoring my factory equipment. The demo still doesn't sound, every time the program is opened it crashes for the first time, but the loops are already sounding.

I know this is not the advice you want to read. But it is the only way that after crashing on opening, I can start using the program.

And finally, the answer to the topic of the location of the loops is perfectly detailed here (thanks @Former user) : https://www.magix.info/us/forum/where-are-the-virtual-instruments--1261415/

I'm sorry I can't give you another answer, but this has been my experience. I will start to install my programs (including Office lol) and I hope I can find why the program does not open correctly.

Hey Alberto. No Problem. So it is all working now?

Alberto-Cruz wrote on 3/1/2021, 9:42 PM

I can use Acid Pro 10 after a couple of times of receiving the image from Crash and Send to Magix.

That message appears to me regardless of whether it is a new session or a blank file.

After that, I can use it. So 50% less frustrated.
