Hi Can any one help me on this,

I am very new to DAW sysmtem, just started to use for my Church purpose. I am trying to make some tracks for reguar service, but when I record from my Yamaha PSR 295 (1/8' using sterio jack to jack with sterio 1/4' adoptors on both ends) I here only one side.

Can any one suggest me the right cable I need to use (I have only one out put /headphones hole on my keyboard) to get it in sterio formate?

Many thanks in advance

Praveen

Hi,

Check this:

  1. In MMM when you record (use track 1), which channel is recorded, left or right? Remember that each track has 2 channels; you do not get left on one track and right on another track; both are on the same track. Note that you can see the level meter rise.
  2. Now try reversing the cables, either at the keyboard or computer, but only at one end. Which channel is recorded, left or right? If it is different from the first time, then you may have a back cable.
  3. Turn on the mixer (M). When you playback the sound do you see both volume indicators beside the track slider moving together? If so, then you have the sound on both channels, this is, in stereo.
  4. On the audio recording parameters screen, is everything set up to record from the line-in, in stereo?

Let me know how you make out.

Hi Praveen,

Shift + Z splits the recording into two mono objects which are then connected to a group. If you recorded in stereo, the left channel will be on track 1 and right channel will be on track 2. You can use the "Ungroup" button to edit the channels as independent objects.

If you do this and do not have a wave image on one of the tracks, then you are recording only onto 1 channel, either left or right.

In the image below, I recorded using a microphone that only recorded to the left channel. When I did a Shift + Z, the right channel goes to track 2. Since there was nothing on the right channel, there is no wave form.

Did you follow my suggestions? You may have a faulty cable or connection.

If you still can't solve this, then when you go to record, open the parameter screen and change recording from Stereo to Mono. This will create a mono recording but with the sound coming out of both speakers. See below.

Hi John,

Thank u very much for your replies, very helpful.

As u suggested I checked i copied using Shift + Z then it came as single line in below track whcih means as u said not sterio recording foramt.

it is clear now that I am recording on mono

Can u plz help me how can i record in Sterio format

cause I use same out put for my head phones to listent from my keyboard it comes as sterio, then why it's not recording in sterio? is it because of cable?

Many thanks for ur help
