New MEP MX Premium software

Hi All,

Can anybody give some info about the MEP MX Software? I struggle to make sense of the technical jargon used.

-Does it use 64bit and run super fast?

-Can it use lots of memory to improve performance (if I upgrade to 8GB)?

-When rendering does it render using 100% CPU power to speed up rendering?

Hi

To answer your questions in order - my views are:

Does it use 64bit    -    No it is a 32 bit app (well it installs in the Programs(x86) folder)

run super fast   -   that depends on your computer configuration - for max speed Intel quad core I5 or I7 with lots of RAM - see below, and the type of video you are editing eg H264/AVCHD require plenty of processor power and therefore are slower than standard mpeg for example.  There appear to me to be quite a few posters on this and other video forums who have problems with AMD processors.

Can it use lots of memory to improve performance   -   the more the merrier within limits  ie 8 - 16Gb, throwing more RAM gives a rapidly decreasing performance increase for increased expenditure.

...rendering does it render using 100% CPU power.... As for can it run fast and also depends on whether the graphics card can be utilised for rendering by MEP..

HTH

John

Thanks John.

I work on MEP15+, I will try the newest version once I have recouped my loss from buying Vegas Movie Studio 11  Suite (I thought VMS might have improved since I last used it with VMS6 Plat, but alas I find MEP has a lot more features and is a better program, and it doesn't stop working after 2 weeks of sweat doing a wedding video for a friend!).
