New Laptop, Movie Studio 17 no longer accepts my video formats

Gregg-Wyber wrote on 10/8/2022, 9:43 AM

I own a Mavic 2Pro Drone which outputs video MP4 files in H265, DLOGM 10 bit colour profile. I used Movie Studio 17 Platinum for years to edit my videos and it was great. When my Lenovo Yoke (i7) packed up recently, I bought a new Dell XPS17 with i9 processor and NVIDIA RTX3060 graphics card. I thought this would make light work of my video editing, but the opposite has happened. MS17P will not accept and of the H265 formats. I've downloaded the HEVC codec from the microsoft store and that made no difference. I can play the files on my laptop and even edit in the native Microsoft Video Editor app. However this doesn't permit colour grading etc. I've tried everything including downloading the trial version of Magic Movie Studio 2023 (which gives the message "Unfortunatley the function 'HVEC codec is not available due to licencing conditions") when I try to use H265 format. Can you offer me any advice please?

This is the media data output for the type of file I'm struggling with:

Von den reinen Daten her, die deine Media Info Analyse ausgibt, müsste es funktionieren.

Zumindestens mit Video deluxe Premium 2022 und 2023.

Magix Video Deluxe 2022 Premium (2.138)

Rechner: MSI Leopard GP76 , Intel I7-10870H,

NVidia RTX 3060 Mobile (TDP=130 Watt) (6GB),
Treiber-Version 31.0.15.5222

Arbeitsspeicher RAM 16GB,

Intel HD 630 On-Board I-GPU= deaktiviert.

Windows 10 (Auto-Update + Manuell) Ver.19045.4355

Weitere Video Software: CAPCUT
Konverter: Handbrake

Since 03.02.2024 experementil successfull with K-Lite-Codec Pack.

@Gregg-Wyber Hi, sorry wrong forum, MS17 is Vegas, you need this forum, copy & paste your comment on there. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/vegas-pro-forum/

Magix Movie Studio 2023 is a totally different program, so beware before any purchase!, Vegas Edit or Vegas Pro is the correct upgrade for Movie Studio 17,

The HEVC codec you mention in MS2023 is a one time purchase, it's been a while since I bought mine but its about £5,

& I can tell you HEVC 10bit files don't do well in Vegas, there's been a few posts about that but ask on the Vegas forum.

If you want to use Magix Movie Studio 2023 there's people here willing to help, but like i say beware, it's a totally different program to MS17.

@Gregg-Wyber

Please read this pinned post and follow the advice given there.

This thread will be closed.

FYI: The trial version of Magix Movie Studio 2023 does NOT include the HEVC codec; the purchased version does, but only for importing and editing. If you wish to Export in HEVC/h265 you will need to purchase the additional HEVC codec (it only cost a few pounds/dollars).
