New Blue Essentials GPU Support aktivieren (Magix Video Suite 2025)

Willig wrote on 1/28/2025, 3:59 AM

@Willig

In any New Blue effect, click on the options tab and make sure the relevant boxes are not ticked.

Not all effects can be rendered by a GPU.

Thanks for the reply. Same settings, but it looks like New Blue does not support effect noise reduction by the GPU. This is very unfortunate, as it is far too slow to be used, since it seems to run mainly on one CPU.

@Willig Hi, NewBlue Noise Reducer almost freezes my PC on a 1min 1920x1080 AVC clip, every action has a 5secs-ish delay, playback is next to 0, Taskmanager shows almost nothing going on when playing. Turning on the lightning symbol & creating proxies makes no improvement.

& this is Export as MPEG, 1.13hr 👎😒

@Willig @Gid

Hi.

I have just tried using this plugin as well.

The export is taking approximately 30 seconds per frame to render to a 4K MP4 video on my machine.

Playback is anything but smooth.

I have send a support request for information to New Blue as the processing specs show no hint of this problem along with a link to this page.

I am awaiting their answer and will report back if I get a reply.

I should add two of my 8 CPU cores are maxing out but only one logical processor out of the 16 at a time, so is showing a low amount of CPU usage which may not be the actual case. Also it is using a fair chunk of vram from the graphics card but little else.

I used VPX rather than MMS which is supposed to be a little easier on the system and yet still it is far from usable.

I wonder if it runs any smoother with Vegas?

On my system, it appears the problem rests with VPX/MMS rather than the plugin. I tested it on a number of editors and playback is smooth after applying the NewBlue noise reducer in Vegas Pro 22, Videostudio 2023 and Pinnacle Studio 26.

Gid wrote on 1/28/2025, 6:02 PM

@CubeAce Hi, this is that same 1min 1920x1080 AVC clip.

NB Noise Reducer renders faster in VP, it says 7.42mins, I didn't wait but the speed of it rendering made me believe that it would do it in that time. There's a little more CPU usage but not much (I don't have integrated graphics)

Playback is crap, when these two numbers match VP is playing a full fps. 0.67fps is less than 1fps 😂 (Pic below), Building Dynamic Ram (Like prerender, I'm going to ref to it as DR) makes it play at full fps but takes a few minutes to do that, I didn't wait for it to build DR on the full clip but the speed it was going it would be 5mins maybe longer. Any changes in the fx controls makes the DR invalid so tweaking it is not really poss, I'd have to select a short section with the range (Region) to build DR on, tweak the controls & DR that short section again. Then do the full clip when I think it looks about right on that short piece.

Vegas Denoise wasn't any better 0.67fps, BCC+ Denoise played at abut 2fps.

This one was interesting, BCC Noise Reduction Obsolete, BCC is the older versions of Boris fx's, BCC+ are the newer versions. 16-17fps playback & loads of CPU usage.

Render with BCC Noise Reduction Obsolete took 1.06min, the controls are different but I played with a few different settings & got similar results.

Hi Gid.

I don't know about @Can-Dive 's Intel GPU but the plugin didn't touch mine when using VPX. Possibly it is that Can-Dive's system is using DDR5 motherboard ram or a difference in the Intel chiplet design of a mixture of core types?

I've no doubt that it's because @Can-Dive has a newer PC & working on a laptop with a smaller preview window is sometimes better. I'm working on a 32 UHD Dell monitor, no integrated graphics, DDR4 Ram, a 4yr old GPU & Windows 10 + my Motherboard & CPU have a server history designed for reliability not speed. 🤷‍♂️. .

@Gid @CubeAce,

Here are my current graphics specs and drivers for your reference;

Iris Xe Graphics - 31.0.101.5590

Nvidia RTX 4070 - 32.0.15.6636 (Studio)

Gid for your reference, in Vegas Pro 22, my video plays smoothly with Best/half. Best/full has a little stutter but is playable and much better than VPX16. I also tested the plugin using MMS 2024 and get the same results as VPX16.

While hardware plays a role, the same video clip and plugin play smoothly in Videostudio and Pinnacle. These editors have not been developed for over 2 years which leads me to suspect that there is something in the VPX/MMS code which doesn't work well with this particular NewBlue plugin.

Do you have access to other editors to test this plug-in?

Gid wrote on 1/28/2025, 8:02 PM

@Can-Dive That makes sense. I get much better playback with (Half), it's surprising the difference between Full & Half, no I don't use other editors now, I have VPX14 but don't use it & by the sounds of it it wouldn't be any better than MMS2025,

Greetings,

For what it's worth, using NewBlue Noise Reduce (set to maximum) with a 1 minute 1920x1080 AVC clip on my system running MS2025 and using the Nvidia 4060 GPU for Import, Processing and Export, the preview is extremely jumpy and out of sync with the audio; although the audio plays smoothly. Exporting to MPEG took ≈45 minutes.

Same clip using all CPU exported in ≈28 minutes BUT the was preview window was black after 1 second so impracticle.

Same clip using all Intel 770 GPU, preview was easily useable, almost smooth and exporting took ≈28 minutes.

Of course, adding other effects completely alters the dynamics.

@Can-Dive

Hi.

Comparison to other editing programs that have limited track use or limited resolution export capabilities is sort of useful but not a really helpful comparison beyond saying that if Magix didn't have the capability of exporting to 8K and demand higher end components or have unlimited audio and video track counts, that maybe the plugin would work better.

On a personal level, over time since the release of Video Pro X 12, I have seen a decline in my ability to have smooth playback as my track count use increased. Whether or not the increase in third party and inboard effects that get loaded on startup of the program causes this or whether it's the way the newer infusion engine works or how certain effects have been changed to work over time such as the Size, Position, Rotation effect, I couldn't say. Even if I load an old project that is fully compatible with the newer version of the program the playback is never as smooth again.

@me_again @Gid @Willig

I have now tried exporting and playing the project with all variations of CPU/GPU combinations and my results have only got worse than when only having my 3060 employed at all stages. That is with 50 fps MP4 100mbs 4K footage and the plugin set to Light. Both the project and export are using NVMe drives.

Ray.

I tested the plugin using Davinci Resolve 19. Playback was even worse than VPX/MMS. I surmise that some 3rd party plugin's work better in some editors than others.
