"Negative" effect preset in Magix

Hi. New user hoping for help - thanks in advance if you can provide it!

First of all... if anybody can recommend a good manual or in-depth guide to Magix Movie Edit Pro 2016, that'd be awesome (and would save me from coming here every time I have a question!)

Now, as to my question...

So I'm editing a video project and would like to put in a greyscale "negative effect" at a particular point (when the murderer is revealed, actually!) There is a "negative effect" preset in the Magix Movie Edit Pro presets list. When applied to the section of video, it does exactly what I want - reverses the colour scheme so that the light parts become dark and vice versa.

The problem is, it also puts in a "movie film strip"-style frame, which surrounds the actual video images, and starts before and ends after the point at which I want the effect to be applied! I don't need this frame (or even understand why it's there - what does it even have to do with the "negative" effect?) I just want the existing section of video to have a "negative" effect applied to it, so that the colours are reversed.

Can anybody advise me on how to get the "negative" effect without the obnoxious "movie strip" frame?

Thanks very much - that's precisely what I'm looking for as regards the effect.

In answer to your question, I've checked out several tutorials on Youtube (which I find very helpful with general stuff about how the program works, etc, but not very specific regarding things like effects.) I've also had a quick look through the tutorials here but they seem to be very much a case of "for this specific thing, look here." Which is great if you're looking for that specific thing. They're no replacement for something you can just pick up and consult at any time, though, which is what I'd like - something along the lines of a manual or comprehensive guide - unfortunately I haven't been able to find any such thing.

Hi,

You should watch my Getting started tutorial in which you will find the secret as to where to find the manual. The tutorial is basic, no effects, but if you scroll through the MEP part under Forum, you will find many discussions and instructions about different effects.

I did a quick video showing you how to de-construct the Negative effect to use some of its elements and to get an understanding as to how some of these things work. You need to learn all about keyframes - not hard, just takes some time. The only problem that I had is the effect "Blend the original with a static effect." I don't know where that comes from. Maybe someone else here knows.
