Need to open corrupted file to salvage data

I've always been smart when it comes to using Task Manager to force Music Maker to close when it's not responding. I'm hyper-aware that it's a hostile program that will take any chance given it to wreck your entire shop without hesitation. For that reason, whenever I've been forced to close the program I've always backed up my currently open file directly before I close it. Always. Can't risk opening the program back up to find a corrupted file, right? But whenever I reopen the program, the original file is doing just fine and there was no use making a backup at all. All extra safety precautions for nothing. It's been nearly two years I've been doing this, and never once have I needed the backups I've made. So I figure, all right. Maybe just this once, after two years, I can use Task Manager on Music Maker without having to worry about a backup. Just one time, it'll be fine.

Corrupted file as soon as I reopen. Of course. The one time. At least a hundred or more force-closes, and the one time I don't back up the file I lose it. Terrible, terrible program.

Anyway, there's the backstory to my question. Luckily I have a backup of this specific project file from a few days ago, so I didn't lose everything. But I lost a lot, and I need to figure out a way to repair this file, open it in its damaged state, or send it to someone who knows how to fix it. Anyone have any ideas?
