Need help with Independence - is it a VST?

Christopher-Burke wrote on 4/30/2022, 11:15 AM

Dear Everyone.

When I downloaded Independence, it said from the Google result that it was a 32-bit (which I need - old DAW here, sorry!) and 64-bit VST. I've installed it but it didn't ask me where I wanted the VST installed, just the program. The program comes up as a standalone but it said there were 2gig patches installed with it and it's not finding them and I don't know where to look for them.

Also, it's ONLY coming up as a standalone - I can't find any VST .DLLs to put in my VST folder. Anyone know where you find the .DLL files? I've looked in the folder it's installed in but can't find any. And I can't find any presets.

It looks a magnificent piece of kit, though - it's multitimbral! That's awesome for nowadays, exactly what I needed if I can get noise out.

Yours respectfully

Chris.

@Christopher-Burke Did you download Independence Free from http://www.magix.com/us/free-download/independence-free-sampler-software/ ?

As you can see in the site, the free library installer is a separate executable.

Hi

Assuming you are using Music Maker, Independence should appear on the VST Instruments tab once installed and should be in the folders:

C:\Program Files\VstPlugins\MAGIX\Independence\VSTPlugins64

and

C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins\MAGIX\Independence\VSTPlugins32

where you will see the DLL files - add the VST path to Music Maker's program settings and let it scan it.

What is the current program, full name and version number, which is not seeing it as a VST?

Dear Everyone.

Thankyou for your lovely answers.

To John EB - I take that back, it was me being stoopid. (No surprise there!) I use Quick Score Elite Level 2, which is a lovely but oddball pure notation DAW. The Independence installer had automatically put the .DLL file in what it THOUGHT - and probably logically SHOULD have been - the right folder, however QSE don't work like that! I did a search, found the .DLL, put it in the plug-ins folder for Quick Score Elite and it worked fine. I'm just working out how to use it now. My bad on that one and I apologise.

SP - should've seen that was the factory library, thought that was a different library and the factory one would be part of the original setup. Thanks for telling me it wasn't, have got the sounds now. Not doing too well here, am I!?!?!

What I love about it is that it's multitimbral. That's SOO rare these days! Dunno why companies give you stuff with tons of presets and then make it so you have to load in tons of instances to use the presets, to me that's crazy.

Thank you all for your help, sorry I jumped in with questions before thinking properly, guess I was just eager to try it out!

Yours respectfully

Chris.

@Christopher-Burke Don't hesitate to ask other questions. 😉 Independence is a complex sampler, so it is not easy to get started. If you don't know how other samplers work it is a tough start. There is a very long PDF manual available I would suggest you work through it. One thing I love about Independence, it can load also MIDI files like audio samples. For example, this makes it possible to load melodies, chords etc, and play everything with just one finger.

Hi

Thanks for the feedback, pleased to hear it is working now - even if it is in a non Magix product 😂.

. . . .  it was me being stoopid. . . .

We have all been there some time or other welcome, to the club.
