Need help deleting one single frame of my music video

Rodger-Bowles wrote on 1/14/2022, 4:53 AM

Hello. I'm trying to import an old music video into Magix Movie Studio Platinum (new user). I see each frame fine, and music plays. However, I need to delete the old "cover" frame I used. Its the first frame (box?) of the video and contains text only. I can't find the way to delete only one frame, and perhaps rearrange others. I've been trying for days now. Can someone help please? 😵😵😵 Thanks bunches in advance!

@Rodger-Bowles

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

You need to be in the timeline track view.

Expand the track both width and length wise using the icons at the base on the right hand side of the timeline, setting the track play marker next to where you want the edit. Expand the view until you see the individual frames market along the top of the editor.

Use the scissor tool to cut the frame. Highlight the frame by clicking on it.

Right click and 'cut' the frame.

Ray.

@CubeAce I just had a look at Magix Movie Studio Platinum, on the Magix site although it's under the Vegas option it looks like it is similar to MEP Pro/Premium, but Google pics shows Vegas Movie Studio Platinum that looks a bit like Vegas Pro?

@Rodger-Bowles Would you post a screenshot of what yours looks like pls.

Here's a screen shot and thank you. Ray, when I click on the individual frame, nothing changes. When I click on the "cut" tool, and then the frame, the whole video gets deleted. Thanks you both for your input. Its greatly appreciated. I dont think this is a huge issue - but for some reason, it has been for me.

Hi, the cut tool (scissors) will cut where the cursor is placed, there's options for cutting tho, if you click & hold on the scissors button it'll give you a dropdown, I just use the T on the keyboard.

Hi, my layout is slightly different but the controls are the same, you can use the + & - to zoom in, or right click the bar at the bottom to get options for viewing 1frame, 5frames etc,

When using the scissor tool how it cuts will depend on which of the mouse mode options is chosen, single objects - all tracks..

@Rodger-Bowles

Keyboard's quicker.

Hit the home key. Play marker is now at the very start.

Right Arrow once. The play marker is now between frame 1 and frame 2.

Hit CTRL plus up arrow to zoom in on the timeline. Keep going until you can see the single frame to the left of the Play marker.

Hit T. That cuts the video.

Now, click on your first frame (the one you want to delete) to highlight it. Hit DEL.

Depending on what mouse mode you are in:

-Single Object Mouse mode (single pointer below the preview monitor, click to highlight it in bluet): your frame will be deleted and a gap will be left. You'll have to click-drag the movie to the left to close up the gap.

-Single Track Mouse mode: the frame will be deleted and the gap will be closed-up (ripple edit). Single track also includes objects grouped with those on that track, such as the audio.

FYI, the next mouse mode, All Tracks mouse mode, ripples all the tracks to the left when you delete your frame.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

@Rodger-Bowles I think this is because the scissor cut tool was on Remove Scene option,
