Greetings,
There's an upgrade to version 6 of Neat Video if anyone is interested. After a quick play it does seem quicker and slicker but that could be just because I've spent money on it ☺️
Version 6.0
New render engine for smarter and faster processing
Use of available CPUs and GPUs is enabled by default
Automated optimization of performance settings
Intelligent Adaptation: Neat Video has a built-in automated intelligence system to monitor, analyze and dynamically adjust the performance parameters within an ongoing render process to achieve the best speed in each individual segment of the timeline
Added support for new NVIDIA GPUs:
GeForce RTX 50-Series (5090 / 5080 / etc.)
Note: due to changes in NVIDIA drivers and CUDA Toolkit, GPUs with Compute Capability 3.5 are no longer supported; only GPUs with Compute Capability 5.0 and higher can be utilized by Neat Video 6.
CPU- and GPU-specific code has been additionally optimized
Improved load balancing for more efficient use of the CPU and GPU computing resources
Neat Video 6 can now do more work in parallel with the host application, reducing idle time of both and ensuring that the CPU and GPU are better utilized overall
Scrubbing in the host application has been optimized for speed: the plug-in can deliver its processing results faster (allowing the host application to update its preview quicker) when scrubbing jumps in the timeline are small.
Saving memory to handle high resolution easier
Neat Video 6 dynamically varies its memory usage, especially on machines with limited GPU memory, to reduce the chance that the system would throttle, slow down, use the virtual memory a lot, etc.
More accurate noise reduction with HDR materials
New Input Gain control to prepare video data for optimal processing.
If you work with a mistakenly underexposed or overexposed video, or with a regular HDR video, then correctly adjusting the input gain before profiling and noise reduction can help Neat Video to be more accurate at preserving details while reducing more noise and other imperfections. This gain adjustment is not permanent, it is only used internally by Neat Video 6 during processing and then it is undone once the processing is complete. The Input Gain control also offers a recommendation to choose the most suitable adjustment value. In the Pro edition, you can also manually adjust it with higher precision.
Improved user interface
Preview performance has been additionally optimized for speed
Added illustrated help dialogs for scan type, gamma and gain controls
Variants now can be used to test different gain adjustments too
Additional guidance to adjust the GPU memory settings in Manual mode (in Preferences > Performance)
Additional indicators of GPU interfaces in Preferences > Performance
Improved Undo/Redo history of changes for noise profiles and presets
Improved About dialog behavior to help the user verify that an updated version of the software has been installed successfully
