In Movie Studio 2023, Program settings, Device options ensure that the Import, Processing and Export options are all set to CPU.

Unfortunately the Intel HD Graphics 4000 in the processor cannot be used for decoding/encoding of video, the upgrade has tipped you over the limits of the PC capabilities.

Other options to help performance:

• Use proxy files if working with video of 1920 x 1080 or higher resolution, the option is in the Project/movie settings, Movie tab - these are lower resolution videos which reduce the load on the CPU and GPUs for playback of the timeline, when you export the project the original video files will be used.
   
• Enable the Lightning symbol bottom right of the Preview monitor, it will be blue when on, this lowers the load on the CPU/GPUs.
   
• If your Antivirus program has an option for Scan on demand or equivalent, turn this off, it will scan every file every time it is used in the program which loads them on demand, ie they are not stored in memory for instant access.
   
• The files used in the project are located in the default folder where MMS expects them to be or on an internal hard drive. Using external (USB) hard drives can cause delay issues due to their lower data transfer rate

Hey yall... that worked... the MP4 files are working now that everything is set to CPU... will delve deeper into the issue later this week as I make practice videos. Thanks for quick replay and a solution short of buying a new computer!!! Art Carnrick

John, this is misleading. I've got three computers here which run in "CPU only" mode with absolutely no buggy behaviour such as crashes and import failures. The issue is that the program is written so badly that it has no automatic fallback to a different configuration. Art's PC is well within the "requirements" of Magix video editors, as described by Magix itself:

"All MAGIX programs are developed with user-friendliness in mind so that all the basic features run smoothly and can be fully controlled, even on low-performance computers."

By all means, highlight the potential lack of "performance" on a lower-end machine without a decent GPU, but to suggest that a person has a computer that "below the limits" is not fair on Magix or the user.

There is nothing misleading - though perhaps I should have said 'iGPU capabilities, and have not mentioned anything about 'buggy behaviour such as crashes and import failures'.

It would be unfair to users not to state that the performance level on older processors, GPUs and iGPU's will be compromised due to the lack of support for many features which require later versions of DirectX, or NVENC support and not give the reason why.

The simple fact is the HD4000 iGPU cannot, in this case, do the importing, processing of the video correctly, it gives a black preview screen, is not we have seen in the forum many times and not just with Intel iGPUs but also older Nvidia and AMD GPU's lack of support for DX and NVENC mentioned above.

This is where the minimum computer specification should be more clear, this has been discussed in the forum several times.

WITHOUT PRESENTING ANY SIMILAR PROBLEM IN MY VIDEO EDITING THAT I FACE WITH MAGIX Video easy AND MAGIX Movie Studio 2023 Suite.

I ALSO DOWNLOADED 4 OTHER TEST PROGRAMS SUCH AS DVDFab Video Enhancer AI - Wondershare Filmora - VideoPad Video Editor - OpenShot Video Editor AND IN THE TESTS THEY WORKED NORMALLY.

ALSO ON THE FORUM I COULDN'T FIND A WAY TO SEND YOU THE PRINT SCREENS I TOOK OF THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING BECAUSE IT ONLY ALLOWS PHOTOS AND VIDEOS WHICH I CAN'T FIND RIGHT BECAUSE COMPUTER IMAGES PRINT BETTER WITH PRINT SCREENS.

Assuming you have activated the program and installed all the Extra Content which gives you more features, and content and codecs.

Try the following:

Right click the program shortcut and select Run as administrator, add a mp4 to the timeline and activate the codec.

If this fails, disable your antivirus program and try activating the codec again.

Υποθέτοντας ότι έχετε ενεργοποιήσει το πρόγραμμα και έχετε εγκαταστήσει όλο το πρόσθετο περιεχόμενο που σας δίνει περισσότερες δυνατότητες, περιεχόμενο και κωδικοποιητές.

Δοκιμάστε τα εξής:

Κάντε δεξί κλικ στη συντόμευση του προγράμματος και επιλέξτε Εκτέλεση ως διαχειριστής, προσθέστε ένα mp4 στη γραμμή χρόνου και ενεργοποιήστε τον κωδικοποιητή.

Εάν αυτό αποτύχει, απενεργοποιήστε το πρόγραμμα προστασίας από ιούς και δοκιμάστε να ενεργοποιήσετε ξανά τον κωδικοποιητή.

WHAT I NOTICED IS THAT IN THE MENU - HELP - ACTIVATE CONTECT PACK WHEN I CLICK ON IT, A MAGIX STORE ICON COMES UP WHICH SAYS ENTER YOUR SERIAL NUMBER OR COUPON CODE.

The third image in your post suggests that the account you are using to login to the computer does not have sufficient security privileges to complete the activation.

This could be your Antivirus/Firewall program blocking access to the required folder locations.

Try the following - right click tthe program shortcut, from the popup menu select Run as administrator then try the MPEG-4 activation again.

Possibly because Windows won't offer it to him. I have the same situation. No matter how often I get Windows to check for updates I don't get an update to 22H.. I just get updates for 21H.. Yet an older PC I recently played with updated automatically to 22H..

But I'm not bothered. I'm due for a new PC soon which will come with Win 11 anyway.

OT - Where's GID. He hasn't posted here or on the Vegas forum, where he was also active, for a few weeks.
