When I click on the red record button the track moves like it is recording but it is not picking up any sound. It was working and now for some reason it does not work. Please advise what I need to do.

Check your Windows sound settings and confirm the desired input is set as the default under the 'Record' tab. The record level is also adjusted in the Windows sound settings, or at the source.
To view Sound Forge's record level meter, go to 'View> Record Options' and enable 'Arm' (aka, record ready).
If you have an internal soundcard, either the 'Microsoft Sound Mapper' or 'Windows Classic Wave driver' are usually trouble free. These audio device type settings are in the Sound Forge "Options> Preferences> Audio menu.
