You stated you had to reinstall the software, what was the reason for that reinstall?

Have you had any issues with Windows?

USB is not something I wrap my fingers around with audio. I use an actual audio interface, its a PCI card which means I have cabled running from the back to a breakout box, and cables from that into a desktop mixer, which I have a pro series microphone connected. My connection is XLR which is a three pin connection.

But, that doesn't help you any right now, do my suggestion is to look into Windows.

I know you don't want to hear turn up the mic, but even a USB mic has a volume control.

I have a USB Logitech gaming mic, which has a separate volume control then that of my sound card "microphone" connection. If I was to adjust the sound card Microphone connection, it will do nothing for the USB mic.

You also need to make sure that in the MAGIX recording parameters that the device the program is trying to record from is the USB mic of that Mic Mate.

Have you tried contacting MXL?

Well to me first you need to make the device work with Windows, don't worry about the MAGIX software yet. I think you solve it working with Windows, and you will find it will work with MAGIX.

Any USB device installed on a Windows system must be recognized by Windows. The Mic Mate is no exception. When you plug it in, Windows needs to recognize it for what it actually is, not just some random USB device.

So, I read their specs and it seems to say no drivers are necessary. So, when you open the Windows audio panel (right click the speaker icon down by the clock of the computer), I think on XP you open the Show Volume Controls, then go to Options, Properties, then select recording, in that window, you will be shown a list, make sure everything has a green check next to it. then press OK

This is now the Recording Control, so you want to make sure that the USB Mic Mate is selected as the recording device, and you should have a fader that you can position. If you do not have this, then you need to check with the manufacture, as it now defies my logic for something that needs no driver.
