Windows 10 Pro running on Intel Core 1-3. MACL 2014 results seem different. Can I reload the program from Program Files (x86) or must I download MACL 2014 from the internet?
What changed on the MAC or have you changed speakers or headphones?
Check that a Windows update has not replaced the audio card manufacturer drivers.
Re-installing is the option of last resort and may not fix the issue as the change may not relate to the program, however you should be able to download the program from your account at magix.com.
Login using the Account login button top right of the home page using the email address and password you used to register the program.
Select My Products, there you should see your registered products and a download option.
What is different is the CLEANING. Previously when I did the Auto Cleaning, on virtually all my records (used), it recommended DeCrackler and DeClicker 100%, but now with some new records that has pops and crackles it recommends only about 35% DeHisser. I can hear the records are not clean.
Thank-you for your comments. I do not know how to check "that a Windows update has not replaced the audio card manufacturer drivers". There is quite a lot of disturbance when I listen to the MAGIX recorded music, as compared to the music from the playing LP - I use the Tape button on my Amp to switch directly between the LP and the PC recording. I have reloaded MACL 2014 from MAGIX.com and re-recorded the LP, and although it now sounds better and the Cleaning works as before with DeCrackler and DeClicker showing 100%, the quality of the sound is still way below that of the LP. I hear a lot of reverberating sounds. The recording should be the same quality as the LP.
I have an Asus Xonar Essence STX soundcard in my PC and this is selected in my PC's Sound settings.
I have reloaded the ASUS Essence STX soundcard driver from the internet and rerun MACL 2014, but there is a serious problem with the volume: when I record with MACL, the Recording Level Volume Control is drawn down so that the recording never goes up into the "Too Loud" area (yellow). But when I use the ID3 Editor to name the fields, the "Edit Object Volume" pointer is off the graph at the top, so I have to draw it down to the middle, and even then the sound is much too loud, compared to the LP's sound level. Maybe the sound level is causing the reverberating distortion.
@henniej Do you have some kind of "automatic audio improvement" like an EQ or volumen adjustment in the ASUS driver settings enabled? Can you show us which options are available in your audio device settings in Windows?
I think I have found the problem - Line In was not selected. I am now re-recording and the graph of MACL seems right with highs and lows, not just an even block as before. I will see when the recording is completed if all is well. I just clicked Manage Sound Devices on Line-In and that seemed to fix the problem.
