my arrangement/song will not upload -it seems as though I have lost it

I have been working for weeks on a song and had been saving the arrangement (numb4) at regular intervals. Then my computer froze and so the only way I could get out of the screen was to press control/alt/delete. Now when I try and upload my arrangement it will not upload and it gives me the warning message;

The file format of C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My documents\MAGIX_MusicMaker15\numb4.MMM cannot be read by Magix Music Maker.

Does this mean that all mt effort has been wasted or is there a way of getting this back. It is a birthday song for my for my wifes 40th birthday on the 24 August.

Absolutely gutted-please help.

Mike

If you explore your system, in the folder that has the project file... see if there is a .bak file with that name, if so try loading it.

I hope that loads the project, if it doesn't I am afraid your fears are accurate. The MMM file that will not load is corrupted because of the freeze and shut down.

When I am working on a project I save consistently, in fear of things like what you are going through, but I will occasionally reach a point in the project where I have either made a huge change or a new instrument added, there I will actually rename the project, so if I needed to go back later, because I decide I do not want that instrument, all the changes that were made as a result of adding it, I can open a earlier project. My naming convention is usually, but not always...

##_name_X

# means the take I am on for that project, where I can go back to a different take. Name is the overall name of the project and the X at the end is the current state of the project. F = final, P = in progress, C= crap. I have a lot of C in my directory.

Again, I hope you are able to open this as a .bak file. If not, let your wife know we wish her a happy birthday :D

Hi,

I am a MMM 16/ MMM 16 Premium user and sometimes same thing happen. I have suffered a lot to learn how to recover from such loss as in your case.

I do not know about MMM 15 but in MMM 16/16 Premium the program save back up in case of problem.

Therefore, if you can open your saved project folder and can locate a file like this one with BAK extension.

I do not know if you can see the screen shot as new design of this Magix info is crazy and some times never show jpeg images, in that case just read text please other than screen shot.

If you could locate your Bak file then you are lucky. Now from Magix Music Maker load the file

File/Load arrangements Ctrl+O a window will be opened and at the right bottom you will see Arrangements*mmm next to it is a drop down menu click on it and choose "all files" now browse the desired BAK file and open it. In most cases it workd well. I hope you did not delete anything inside project folder.

If you need help send message. I wish you success and hope this answer might help you.

Thank you
