Music Studio 2013 will not load EZdrummer2 as VST

dpaine wrote on 1/12/2015, 9:56 AM

Hi,

Music Studio 2013 under Win7 Professional 64bit, Lexicon Omega, EZdrummer2, Independence basic..

As a long time MStudio user I have recently upgraded my system to W7 64bit and reloaded all software from scratch, also installing all updates, so 100% latest vesions.

Both programs are installed as standard on the C drive. I notice that MS has installed itself under 'Program Files (x86)' whilst Toontrack/EZd2 is under 'Program Files'. Thes are standard installations, not custom, so I assume this is normal.

I cannot get MS2103 to recognise EZd2 as a VST. I have browsed/scanned/rescanned the Toontrack VST Plug-in folder , de'installed, re-installed both sets of software. I have copied the VST Plug-in folder into the Samplitude Music Studio 2013 folder under Program Files (x86), and re-browsed/scanned etc.

None of these actions has allowed me to access EZ2 as a vst option under the midi vst settings on MS2103 tracks. I can access and use all other MS integral vst's as normal (vita/rock drums etc.)

I have tried copying EZ2 midi files into MS2013 tracks, and can play them back through MS integral drum sounds, but not (evidently) EZ2.

Has anyone got any idea what I am doing wrong? 2 days lost already fiddling with software.........i shall soon be losing the will to live! God forbid I have to resort to cubase again!

thanks in advance for any help

Dave

Hi

From the file locations I think the he EZ2 software /  VSTs are 64 bit.

MMM will not recognise them - you must use 32bit VSTs - ie you need the 32bit version of EZ Drummer.

Hi John,

Really appreciate your reply to this post. Thanks.

Are you saying that EZd2 64 bit is in effect not compatible with MS2103 (which is 64bit version upgraded)?

Sorry if this sounds pedantic, just trying to find the best route to continue.

If I understand what you are saying correctly, I should load the 32bit version of EZd2. But will this run under W7 64bit?

Once again. thanks for your time and advice.

Hi Dave

Thanks for the PM.

. . . . saying that EZd2 64 bit is in effect not compatible with MS2103 . . . .I should load the 32bit version of EZd2. But will this run under W7 64bit?

Yes and Yes.

32 bit programs will run quite happily under Win 7 64 bit OS - every program in the 'Program Files (x86)' folder is 32 bit.

All programs in the 'Program Files' folder are 64 bit.

Cheers

John

Hi,

John, that's awesome. Loaded EZD2 32bit and the vst assigns and loads straight away.

Seems to me this is information a lot of people will need, especially if like me you assume that 64bit versions should be compatible.

Can now get on with some music! Thanks again.
