music stopped playing

I have been working on my first movie in Movie Studio 2023. I was using the 2nd track for music. I started adding videos into the movie, and I was cutting the music at the point that the still photos transitioned to video so that I could lower the volume of the music while the video plays. Everything was working great, and then all of the sudden, the music did not play. I can still hear the sound from the video but not the music. I can't even hear the music when it's playing during still photos. I tried deleting the song and dragging it in again. Still nothing. I tried dragging in a different song. Still nothing. The "Mute Audio" is not on, so it's not that. I feel like I must have turned off the audio somehow, but I can still hear the sounds from the videos..... Help please....

I just figured it out!!!! I tried moving the music to track 4 and it played! That's when I saw that the "M" was highlighted on track 2...."What's this?" I asked. "Switch track on/off" . I have no idea how that got hit, but that was causing my problem. Sorry to bother you folks.

@Mary-Stutzman

Hi Mary,

When you have a problem with audio, try opening the Mixer (shortcut M). If a track is muted, it will be obvious.

Watching playback will give you an idea of the volume of each track.

I suggest that you not put audio on track 2. If you want Video/Audio on separate tracks (my default), the audio will go on track 2, so you don't want other audio there.

Magix uses track 5 for audio for effects and Magix songs, so I leave that track available.

I use tracks 6 and 7 for other audio, narration, music.
