Music Maker won't read the file location of certain loops

Ward-Ron wrote on 3/28/2020, 4:51 AM

When I click on certain loops from certain soundpools, instead of playing that loop, it gives me the following error message:

The issue is, the program HAS all the right perms to read the file and the Drive is not full (I haven't even filled up 50% of it), but Music Maker doesn't want to read the file. I have checked that the file path in that screenshot exists and that the file exists, but I still get this message. It also appears when dragging and dropping the loop onto the mixing boards and it appears to affect random loops in the "FX" section of the soundpool

I am using the Free version of Magix Music Maker, The soundpool is "Techno-5am) and the loop is "Attack Noise Snare". My Operating system is Windows 10 and I'm using a Dell Inspiron Laptop. Please help

@Ward-Ron

The message you are seeing is that the "file format cannot be read". This is most unlikely to be due to anything involved with permissions I think, but to confirm this, try moving that specific .ogg file to a different location, e.g. a different drive if you have one, and then, when you reload the project and see an error message that MM cannot find the file, point it to the new location. If it then fails to load, there clearly is some format problem with that specific file and you may need to check on the Downloads tab to see if there may be a "newer" version available to you. (As long as you don't move the file back to its original, default location, it should be listed as downloadable, I think.)

@Ward-Ron

Hi

. . . . Free version of Magix Music Maker . . .

I assume that the OGG file is in the location specified in the error message.

Is the Techno-5 AM from an earlier version of Music Maker or Acid?

Have you tried rescanning the Soundpools?

@johnebaker
1) I updated my version last night, before I posted this, just in case that was the problem
2) What do you mean by Rescanning ?

Ward-Ron wrote on 3/28/2020, 7:30 PM

@emmrecs I tried pointing it to like 5 different locations and it kept saying that it didn't exist, when it clearly does. I put the OGG file back where I found it after I tested that and it still didn't care. I also tested the problem a little bit further to see what else it was effecting......

3 loops (All FX) from Techno-5am
1 loop (Drums) from Music Maker-Feel Good
1 Other loop I forgot to note down from Trap-Here we Come

Hi

. . . . What do you mean by Rescanning ? . . . .

In File, Settings Program settings, General tab there is the Rescan Soundpools button bottom right of the dialog.

@johnebaker that failed. I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling the effected soundpools

Ward-Ron wrote on 3/29/2020, 8:51 PM

I think I found the problem. The Soundpool had an Update and it didn't want to update. Uninstalling it seemed to work
