Music Maker update 29.0.4.25

ralftaro wrote on 11/19/2020, 3:55 PM

Hi all,

Music Maker update 29.0.4.25 went live earlier this week. Please find below the official patch notes.

Changes in patch 29.0.4.25 compared to 29.0.3.21

  • Bug fix: AVI files can be added to an arrangement again
  • Bug fix: Video effect templates can be used in Music Maker again (i.e. MXV support working again)
  • New: The type of Music Maker Edition currently in use now displays after login in the "MAGIX" account area in the start dialog
  • New: Scan paths for VST plug-ins can now be edited in a separate dialog (via Program settings => Folders)
  • Crash fix: Fixed crashes that occurred during playback of MIDI files
  • Additional optimizations and fixes (loop manager, Song Maker, Templates tab, Downloads tab, Store search)

As always, the patch will be deployed via the program's automatic update function, which you can also trigger via the "Upgrade program online" option in the "Help" menu. Please keep in mind that, under the current Music Maker product concept, you'll be able to patch your way up to the current product generation and revision from any version starting in generation 25.x of the software.

You didn't fix the bug where I can't login to the store. I guess you guys don't want money. What a joke. I wish Sonic Foundry had never sold out.

Hi,

After I downloaded this patch from within Music Maker 2020 Premium it says it will install after the program closes. I tried clicking the Install Now button but nothing happens.

If I close Music Maker and restart it, the patch hasn't installed and it just says that the patch is available for download. If I click download it says that it has already been downloaded. From then I just go round and round in circles.

If I click to see what changes are in the patch it says:

"Changes in this patch 29.0.4.25

The new Music Maker 2021 (64 Bit) is released - install the best Music Maker ever now for free!"

What does this mean? Does this mean I get a free upgrade?

Thanks.

The 'Update' 29.0.4.25 is an upgrade from Music Maker 2020 to MMM 2021

The installation process should start once you close MMM 2020.

Do note

  1. The new version is a 64 bit version of the program so unless you have the Premium version of 2020 you will not get the VST Bridge which allows the older 32 bit VST instruments and effects to work.

  2. Do not let it replace 2020 it will install alongside so you can still retain the older version in case of issues of which there are 'a few' - see here.

  3. Once installed you will have to download all the Extra content again as this has been updated to the 64 bit version. This should ball be available under the Downloads tab once activation has completed.

Way to ignore my actual question about why I can't access the store through music maker, and instead pick on a non issue that wasn't my actual question at all.

Do you see why I'm so fed up with Magix support? If you must know, Sonic Foundry created SoundForge, Vegas, Acid, etc. and sold out to Sony, who sold out to Magix. The support was never the same, and the bugs have multiplied, and the interface of Vegas is now hard to look at.

Now that I have answered your question, please answer my original question and help me get connected, or at least let me know that you've made a bug note to the developers for the next patch.

@Thistof

First, remember I clearly said at the beginning of my earlier reply that these are user to user forums, so not a contact for any Magix staff. Moderators are not employed by Magix, we are all fellow-users.

Then, with all due respect, please re-read your original post!

In a thread announcing an update patch for the latest version of Music Maker you mention I can't log into the Store and then mention Sonic Foundry. As I wrote, Sonic Foundry has nothing whatsoever to do with Music Maker, hence my question. There really is no point whatsoever in bemoaning the fact that Sonic Foundry sold out to Sony, who in turn sold a number of audio products to Magix.

In order to enable others to see and respond to your post, please start a new thread with your question. Make sure to include full details of your computer (this post will show you the level of information we really do need) along with the precise version and variant of MM you have. With much more information from you we may be able to help.

Also, did you do a search of the forums to find and read posts from users with similar problems, most of which have now been resolved? On my own computer I have absolutely no problem logging into the store, so your situation is most definitely not a bug.

You ASSUMED that it was clear when you said "user to user" in your REPLY to my original post. It wasn't clear, it was so subtle that I missed it! It wasn't helpful. And yet you're CONTINUING to harp on my comment about Sonic Foundry, even after I said that wasn't the issue!

Yes, I've asked about this on several other threads including my own original thread. Why do you think I'm so frustrated with Magix?

Now that you've brought attention to the fact that you're not Magix staff, I know that these forums are completely useless. Magix will never get another single dollar from me, and I won't bother you anymore.

But this doesn't detract from the fact that instead of clarifying that in the first place, you picked on the comment that had nothing to do with my question, and when I replied to that fact, you CONTINUED to pick on the non-issue rather than clarifying and trying your best to help.

You are a BAD MODERATOR. I only wish you were a Magix employee so I could report you to your supervisor for being a complete **** and wasting my time instead of being a helpful person.

Here is how a GOOD MODERATOR would have answered my first question:

"I'm sorry you're having trouble. Unfortunately this is only a user to user forum, and there is no official support here. You can address your support related issues to http://******.***

best of luck, buddy!"

Had I read that, I would have understood much better, and been much appreciative of your help. Instead you played the attitude game, which wasn't helpful to me understanding the situation. I will now wish YOU the best of luck in learning to become a more helpful moderator. Best of luck, buddy!

Thank you for your replies to my post. I am genuinely sorry that you feel my post was unhelpful but that does not give you the right to use offensive language, which is strictly against the Community rules (see #1) and hence I have deleted the one word.

I have to say I am not sure how the words "user to user" could be described as "subtle" but I will accept your opinion.

The patch couldn't have fixed that issue, because that's not actually a common and reproducible bug. If you're having such a problem (and unless there is an actual problem with your account), it's most likely a hiccup in the in-app store caching system. This is how to tackle it:

Open the program settings dialogue within Music Maker, e.g. by pressing the "P" keys. In the "General options" tab, please find and use the "Clean up Store..." button. After the cleaning procedure is done and the program has restarted, you would be able to log back into the in-app store system with your MAGIX user account.

Development is looking into how to avoid such occasional hiccups in the future (and thus the various potential problems resulting from them), but it's not a very clear-cut bug fixing procedure, because there are many unknowns involved. Sorry.

Obviously this patch also "works" for MM2019 premium, at least it downloads and installs, but hangs when loading a previous project from 2019.... or when just loading one loop playing that and trying to close the program. So simply not even closing the program works. Not impressed!!

emmrecs wrote on 12/11/2020, 4:07 AM

@Achim-Be

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

The patch to which this thread refers is for the latest 2021 version of MM so I am not sure what you mean when you say it also works for MM2019 Premium?

@emmrecs Thanks, I meant this patch was offered from within MM2019 premium, so I installed this as speparate to exisitng mm2019. Just found I did not come so far with that. Even though all soundpools and instruments are shown, the problem is that I cannot load any previous version project (load bar 0% for ever, need to kill program via task manager) ... will have to give it another try as loading instruments and sounds feels actually better than with 2019 ... but some principle problems remain. (will stick to samplitude ProX5, though I like MM for ease of working with loops)

emmrecs wrote on 12/11/2020, 1:18 PM

@Achim-Be

I meant this patch was offered from within MM2019 premium

That's exactly what it could not have been!

Your installed version of MM must have been previously updated to the 2021 release if that patch could be applied on your computer. MM 2019 is version 27, MM 2020 is version 28 and the current latest version is 29. So any patch whose number begins 29 is only for that exact version; the same patch is not applicable to multiple versions.

Why does MMM have so many glitches and no fixes? Are you @emmrecs telling me your music maker 2021 works perfectly and never crashes? What kind of system are you running it on?
