Music Maker Premium. No Sound, Cursor wont Move?!?!

Yet wrote on 3/4/2017, 9:42 PM

I have just recently upgraded to the premium version, I had experienced small problems here and there with Magix Music Maker 2016 but luckily a community had already experienced such problems and saw many solutions. My problem now is by far the most frustrating one to date, I open the premium version (MMMPremium as best a description I can give) and try to load a soundloop or song ive previously made on just the basic MMM2016 version and nothing happens, no audio gets recognised, nothing plays, the red cursor for tracks doesn't move and all different audio settings provide no difference..

I own a fairly new laptop with up to snuff requirements for the program to work, (Windows vista) and other then occasional crashes on the basic version I have never experienced this problem until now when upgrading to the premium. I still have MMM2016 installed on my computer, and if I run the MMM2016 program everything works proper, but if i use the exact same settings for the MMMPremium it wont play anything.

One similar problem a user was having seemed to suggest it was the file path or something,.. I have experienced playback issues, audio quality, lagging, MIDI not being recognised, selecting wrong drivers but this is not one of those problems because I have done everything (to my knowledge at least) the same. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and would very much appreciate some help on the matter, any and all input is appreciated.

Hi

. . . . a fairly new laptop with up to snuff requirements for the program to work, (Windows vista) . . . .

Could you clarify the above statement - there is a confusing contradiction between 'fairly new laptop' and Windows Vista

I would take a 'fairly new laptop' as being up to 2-3 years old in which case it would have come with Windows 8 pre-installed, however you have a 10 year old version of Windows which was superceded in 2009 by Windows 7.

The minimum version of Windows for MMM Premium is 7 - it may run on Vista however some functionality may have issues.

We need more information:

  1. Computer specification - make/ model, processor make/model, audio chipset, RAM, hard drive size and free space

  2. MMM Premium version number - see under Help, About . . .

  3. Is this the trial version of MMM Premium?

. . . . I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program . . . .

Without cleaning up the files that are left behind by the un-installer this will not fix the problem - the files left behind are created the first time the program is run so the un-installer knows nothing about them and cannot remove them.

Okay so I apologise for my stupidity and lack of information.

O.S- Windows 7, Model- HP G62 Notebook, Processor-AMD Athlon II P320 Dual core processor 2.10 GHz. Installed Memory (RAM) 4.00GB (3.74 usable)

I did solve my previous problem on my own thank you, but am facing a similar problem with my ASIO driver whenever I attempt to record vocals. I hear no sound. and when recording with direct sound selected or wave driver selected in audio settings there is some delay in the vocals timing with the track.

I severely hope this is not the trail version of MMM Premium because I paid a fair amount of money for this program.....

Magix Music Maker Premium Version 24.1.4.75.

I hope this time I have provided more information to help with a solution.

Hi

Is the laptop a HP G62-244CA ?

. . . . but am facing a similar problem with my ASIO driver . . .

That would suggest your laptop audio chipset (Wildtangent?) does not support ASIO.

You could try the ASIO4All drivers to see if this helps - this is at your own risk.

Alternatively you have access to or can borrow a USB audio interface with headphone output eg Roland, Behringer, MAudio, etc try one of these using the ASIO driver.

Hi,

You have the most recent version of MMM. How are you recording - laptop mic, external mic connected to audio input jack, USB mic (make and model) or external interface like M-Audio M-Track? Which ASIO driver are you using?

One reason for using ASIO is to reduce latency to a minimum.

Hi,

Try the WASPAI driver. If that doesn't work, download, install and use ASIO4All (search on the internet for the free download).

Morning all

I also seem to have issues with my MMM Premium software 2017 Version 24.1.4.75 ( UDP) , This is not a trial version. Firstly I have a HP Pavilion laptop, less than a year old.  OS Window 10, 1TB hard drive, about 800 gig free, 4 Gig Ram, Processors Intel core i3. The 3 main frustrating issues i have are -

1. Whist in the middle of making any track, if I try to add a loop effect, echo been the main one, when I play back to hear the effect, the programme hangs, Pops up do you want to report the issue, you have to choose yes, then it shuts down, really frustrating when you forget to save and you loose everything up to that point.

2. In some cases when I have saved a project, I cannot open that project again, again very frustrating when you have almost completed a great track, only then not been able to open it again??? a pop up shows the location of the file and says it cannot be opened?? maybe me just being thick here???.

3, And lastly I also use MM Jam when commuting to work and back, great pastime, I import some of these to MMM Premium, but I have also noticed that it will not import the track exactly as it was on MMJ, I have to do a lot of editing to get it to sound the same, any ideas?

Thanks all and I hope to hear back from you hopefully with some answers.

@GratecUK

Hi,

Same version as you.

I can sympathize as MMM often crashes on my Surface Pro. There seems to be no pattern to it. Can't say for my desktop as I have not tried MMM on it much recently.

I tried out Echo on a loop and it crashed MMM the first time. I went through several of my songs, all made with loops, then a new one, added Echo to one object, Reverb to another, no problem, no crash.

I sometimes get a lot of pops in my earphones. Changing the driver or the number of buffers helps, but it should not happen when there is hardly anything on the timeline.

Make sure that you have backups set on in the Program Setting to be 10 minutes or less. You can always load a backup file if the main one crashes. The backups are named like this: Song_name_BAK0.MM_. The 0 is increased in number with each backup.

I can't comment on MM Jam - don't have it.
