Music Maker Audio Issues

I only just got Music Maker, so I'm not sure how things work, but I'm having issues with audio either being completely silent or deafeningly loud. I put a bass loop on the track and hit play: if I'm using the DirectSound driver I get the error ' DirectSound create failed', and by using the wave driver I get the error ' waveform speaker device cannot be opened for playback'. Using the ASIO (even after installing ASIO4ALL v2) or WASAPI driver the audio is extremely distorted and loud, like someone blowing right into a microphone.

Using default settings will let the track play, but makes no sound, and then choosing a different driver just causes this whole issue again. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

UPDATE: Upon closing the software I couldn't play audio from YouTube or anything, and restarting my pc has not fixed this. Although reinstalling audio drivers using the sound troubleshooting has returned sound to my pc, just not Magix Music Maker still.

This sounds like problems caused by audio driver conflicts. Do you use an audio interface? It's highly recommended because most consumer PCs only use something like realtek audio sound chipset, which often have massive problems with realtime audio editing. Maybe try updating your audio chipset driver if it isn't up to date. Or get an interface from companies like Steinberg, Behringer or Focusrite.

Ah thanks, I don't have one of those. Do they usually cost money?

Yes. I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and I bought it some years ago for 170 €.
