Multiple Audio Tracks

x-tremespeed wrote on 5/19/2021, 10:49 PM

Hi!

I have a video with multiple audio tracks (I used OBS and put my microphone on a separate track from my computer audio) but I can only hear and edit 1 track - I have Video Pro X 11 17.0.3.68. Is there any way for the program to recognize all my audio tracks, or can it only handle single audio track videos?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

First check your video file has more than a stereo track using MediaInfo.

This is my data from an OBS recording using more than one input.

Hi

With multi stream audio you have 2 options:

Right click the audio and select which stream you want to use

or

if you need all audio streams either

for video/audio on one track - right click the video and select the options shown below

for video/audio on separate tracks - right click the audio and select the option shown below

@CubeAce I know my video has 2 audio channels, but it also has 3 audio "streams" I believe they are called.

@johnebaker Strange, I tried this and those audio options don't appear for me! I do know for a fact I do have 3 different streams as my VLC player will play all the audio, and when I drag the video into Vegas 16 it also shows 3 different audio streams.

@x-tremespeed

Can you allow a short example clip for us to try out? Doesn't have to be long. Ten seconds would do. At least that way we can check. I also have Vegas 16 so can check both to see the difference.

Hi

Thanks for the sample.

No issues here with extracting the audio channels with VPX12 or VPX 8.

. . . .  those audio options don't appear for me . . . .

That would suggest you are using proxy files, in which case you will need to restore the original audio first before you can extract it - right click the clip and look for Restore original sound if you have video and audio displayed on one track it will be under Audio functions.

@johnebaker This worked - thank you! I also found an option under proxy settings to NOT include the audio when creating a proxy so I don't have to restore original audio every time!

Do you know of a way to automatically import all of the audio channels into the timeline without having to manually extract them?

AFAIK there is not one and I cannot find a way of assigning a keyboard shortcut to do this either.
