Multi-client ASIO

cheyrn wrote on 3/10/2018, 3:51 AM

I am trying to follow youtube video tutorials for samplitude. But, I haven't figured out how to make this work. If I try to edit an object, samplitude tells me I must use an ASIO driver. I can use the Magix low-latency driver. But, if I do, can't hear the tutorials.

So, I've tried to figure out how to use either Jack or ASIO Link and I am not making any progress. Advice?

Using jack or asio link, I have to connect an output somewhere to Jack or ASIO link and from there outputs of my soundcard or my headphones. There are numerous permutations that could possibly make that work. But, I haven't found it yet.

Install FL Studio, and try FL Studio ASIO

After installing FL Studio, it should show as a driver option in Samplitude. It's multi-client, so should be good for multiple instances.

Manually delete the FL Studio install folder when you are done.

@JohnnyBlade

You will see I have edited your post to remove a link to the download of a non-Magix product. My apologies for this, but advertising of such a nature is not allowed in the forums.

@cheyrn

The best solution I know to this quandary is to download and install the free Asio4All which does allow multiple input sources and gives some diagnostic information on how the various audio sources are "performing".

There's a big difference in how sound drivers from different brands handle two applications playing at once. I had one soundcard that would bluescreen if ASIO and WaveOut (MME) were activated simultaneously. Other cards may only work in ASIO or WaveOut mode, but not both at once. Yet others (e.g. Motu) will gladly do both at once.

If the Asio4all trick doesn't work, maybe try using WDM or MME in Samplitude. Some real-time monitoring functionality won't work in this mode, but there are bigger chances that it will run while youtube is also playing.

And make sure you have the latest sound driver.

Same problem here (just downloaded the software).

Trying to follow tutorials on Youtube, along with running X3 but got no video playing.

I'll try free Asio4All driver at to get things going...

UPDATED:

Ok i have installed and selected "Asio4All-V2" as audio driver but i am getting the same results as with the "Magix Low Latency 2016" driver.

I can play sound thru my midi controller alright with ProX3 but when i play Youtube videos i get:
  An error occurred. Please try again later (Playback ID IkgjfIjDJ-whatever)
and if i close Pro X3, videos work fine again.

As for Vimeo:

Player error The player is having trouble. We’ll have it back up and running as soon as possible.

Any ideas?
Thanks

@webpro

ASIO is an extremely useful driver type, until there is a need to run two or more simultaneous audio sources at the same time. ASIO was designed, by Steinberg, the originators, to handle ONE input source and ONE output source at a time.

ASIO4All is a sort of "fudge" since it looks to Windows like an ASIO driver though it actually uses the standard Windows MME drivers but bypasses all the "processes" which the OS adds to the audio and through which the signal must pass.

Is it possible for you to post a screenshot of your ASIO4All control panel, (under the Advanced tab)?

Hummm, where is the advanced tab? I'm looking for it but can't find it. Thanks

Sorry, should have explained better. Click the spanner icon, bottom right of the home screen.

I'm sorry, i can't find this either. Maybe because on the trial version?

By the way, i'm trying to find drum loops for testing purposes. Is there any with the trial version? I can play/sequence some sounds from the VSTi section as there are a couple of sounds but can't find any loops (bass/drums/whatever)

Let me know

Thanks

Hi again.

I don't own/use Samplitude so I can't answer your question about loops etc. for it.

But the screenshot I wanted was one of the Control Panel for ASIO4All. It should look something like this:

Note: this is mine, the Advanced tab; yours will look similar but with different options on the left hand side.
