MT2s thumbnails

Not sure what spot to put this question in but hopefully someone can answer it.

I have a bunch of HD video files that i want to edit using Movie Edit Pro.  The problme is I cant tell what files is what.  Does anyone know of a way to get the HD MT2S files to show a thumbnial in VISTA without haveing to edit the registry or download a 3rd party software.

This would make it alot easier to sort through all the files and know which go with witch.

Thank You all

Hi

Vista's Windows explorer should be able to display preview images by opening the folder containing the mts fles and  clicking the display button indicated in the image below - and setting  to medium, large or extra large icons.

You must allow the computer time to generate the preview images - this may take a while if there are a lot of video clips

In MEP you can also set the import pane to large icons to see the preview image.

I gave that a shot and it didnt work. I tried setting it to large and waited and then to extra large and waitied as well.  It still only displays the Orange and white cone for all the m2ts files.  Is there another setting that I am missing or should have checked off?

Hi

Orange and white cone - you must have VLC player installed as the default player.

I think you need to change the default player for these files.

Right click one of the video files and select Open with.  Make sure the Always use this program ... is checked and select Windows Media Player (you may have to browse for it if it is not in the list) confirm all dialogs and you should see the preview images.

John.

Thank you for the reply and the screen shot.  I dont know what I am missing or perhaps there is just another setting im not aware of but changing it to med or large or extra large doesnt do the trick.  I am also runing windows Vista if that sheds some light on anything.

If any one knows what I am missing here or a setting that should be checked it would help out alot
