mpg4 to MEP 17+ and back to mpg4

I have imported an MPG4 file and edited it. I have started to export it back to mpg4. The original movie was 1 hour 46 minutes. The edited movie is 1 hour 19 minutes. It took MEp about 20 seconds to import the file. It has now been more than 1.5 hours and still MEP isn't even close to a quarter of the way through exporting to MPG4.

Why does this software take an eternity to export the file?

Hi

. . . . Why does this software take an eternity to export the file? . . . .

This is because the video is being re-encoded.

The speed of re-encoding and compressing the video which takes a lot of processor power.

What is your computer specification?
