MPEG-4 Export cancelled due to "Unknown Error"

DaveCruzHND wrote on 6/4/2015, 8:58 PM

I recently reformatted a PC system and reinstalled MAGIX Movie Edir Pro 2013 Plus to continue an editing project.

After activating the program and it's various add ons like MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, I tried to export the timeline in MPEG-4 Format but a window pops up saying the export cancelled due to "Unknown Error".

I have used the Magix CD to repair the program, and I have also tried to reinstall the program from both the CD and the Downloadable installer for Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus but the error remains. Every other Export method (AVI, MPEG-2, Etc.) work perfectly fine.

Prior to the reformat, the program and export was working. Other programs re-installed with Magix were the Avast Antivirus, Spybot, Motherboard and Video Card Drivers, and QuickTime (w/ Magix).

For reference, my Hardware consists of the following:

-Intel i7 4770K (3.50GHz)
-Windows 7 (64-Bit OS)
-ASUS Sabertooth Z87 Motherboard
-AMD Radeon R9 270x Video Card

Addendum:

Browsed through similar issues with fixes on the program settings, but the problem still remains.

Issue is unlikely hardware as I have made no changes to the PC; just a reformat due to Blue-Screen errors that were the main reason I could not finish the video edit in the first place.

ISSUE RESOLVED.

After multiple Trial and Error adjustments, I was able to get the MPEG-4 Export to work again with the following Settings:

To clarify: issue was resolved when I went to

File > Settings > Program...
Video/Audio tab - Export
Unchecked:  [  ] Hardware acceleration for MPEG-4/AVCHD export if possible.

Pleased to see you got it sorted and took the trouble to report back, disappointingly rare.

I suspect your brief follow-up was prompted by seeing the poor resolution of embedded images on this MAGIX site, an issue I've been complaining about for years in vain. In many cases, detailed text in screenshots is unreadable.

As you can see from many of my posts, I therefore supplement or replace embedded images with a link to a high res uploaded version. I use Dropbox, which has a reliable free service and is easy to set up and use. Just upload your image, note the link, and paste it into your post.

Hi

. . . . To clarify: issue was resolved when I went to

File > Settings > Program...
Video/Audio tab - Export
Unchecked:  [  ] Hardware acceleration for MPEG-4/AVCHD export if possible. . . .

This is a common problem when you also have the Graphics export option shown below selected as well as the Hardware Acceleration option in the programs settings.  You should only use one or the other.

More rarely do you have to turn both off.  In your case if you have to do this, then the issue may be with the graphics card, or drivers, which is specifically designed for gaming.

Everything so small I can't read it.

IF inconvenient for you, no problem,

Best,
