After replacing my hard drive and reinstalling Windows XP and Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus i need an Activation Code for the MPEG-2 Codecs to use Magix. I have been using Magix for 15 years, have just updated a laptop to Movie Edit Pro Plus 2021 but am rapidly warming towards Pinnacle as Magix just doesn't seem to work any longer.

I don't think Magix had a licence for the distributed use of the main concept codec any more as it is no longer available in MEP 2022. If that is the case then it will no longer be available on the Magix website for downloading for any version of a Magix program. They do have their own MPEG-2 codec within the program though and quality wise seems to be the same if not as flexible.
MEP 2021 will not run on Win 98 if that is what you are trying to do. You would be needing to run at least Win 8 with the appropriate Direct X drivers and supportive hardware.

The jump from Movie Edit Pro (MEP) 15 to MEP 2021 is a giant leap in terms of the system requirements, ie more modern hardware, needed to run the program smoothly and with a satisfactory performance depending on the source video resolution and encoding your are working with.
What is the specification of the laptop, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.
Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the video clips you are working with, and post the results, see this tutorial if you are not familiar with MediaInfo on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip.
