Sorry if you all know this and I'm slow to the party, but if you haven't already, try installing the free Akai MPC Beats app and using it as the best, free drum machine and beat loop maker!

When you install the app it creates a folder 'program files\steinberg\vst' and puts the dll in there, but you can easily copy & paste it into your normal VST folder and boom, it opens as a VST instrument in SMS.

Totally revitalises your DAW functionality and, did I mention it's free??? Amazing...
