mp4 size 640x360 which is16:9 but displays as 4:3 and people are tall and thin. Is there a way to I correct this?
Hi Tony and welcome to the user to user forums.
Have you tried opening a new project and setting the project to 4:3 but a different resolution as the one you need doesn't appear in the drop down menu. Then also tick the "Open Movie Settings" box as well.
Then when the project loads you can change the width and height manually as well as the frame rate before adding any video files.
I think that should work.

Ray, setting different movie settings isn't going to force an incorrectly-read clip into the the right ratio.
Tony, if you're using a Magix editor, right-click on the video object, click on Object Properties, go to Video, then change the Aspect Ratio in the dropdown.
Either Magix is misreading the ratio information or the file has been incorrectly encoded.

I couldn't find the solution because some of the help pages seem to start too late in the process of finding how to achieve an effect, by not starting from the edit screen.
