MP3 errors in Sound Forge 14

Denis-Menezes wrote on 3/7/2021, 11:02 PM

I have installed Soundforge Pro14 on an i3 desktop with 8GB RAM and Windows10.

When I go to the file folder and try to open an MP3 or WAV file, each file opens into a seperate window. If I go to Internal settings and set Force Single Instance Behaviour to TRUE, then multiple WAV files open in same instance but MP3 files give an error that the file is not supported.

When opening a file and the window opens I get a VST scan error and have to close about 8~9 different error windows.

With Soundforge Pro14 already open I am able to open MP3 from the File-Open option.

I am in the midst of a show and this is creating problems.

If you are not using any VST plug-ins, you can disable the scans.

To bypass the VST plug-ins search during the start-up process, try this:
- Right-click on the application's shortcut launch icon.
- Select 'Properties'
- Add the following command outside of the quotes in the Target field: /NOVSTGROVEL be sure to include a space between the last quote and the beginning of the command line like this: ("C:\Program Files\SOUND FORGE\SOUND FORGE Pro 14.0\Forge140.exe" /NOVSTGROVEL)

There is another way as well, but I cannot recall of off hand,

I do not know if the works with AS (Audio Studio).

You might try a cache clear / reset , or uninstall / reinstall.

Thankyou rraud, I tried this setting and it worked, SF Pro14 now does not give vst error. I went into Internal settings and changed "skip startup vst grovel" to TRUE.

I still cannot open MP3 files directly or open only single instance of SF when opening multiple files

My other method to disable VST scanning is in this recent post which may be faster/easier than editing in the Internal menu:
